This happened to me and I fixed it by setting the aspect ratio to the monitor option. The game likes to put it on auto and that hides the zoom in/out/hide armor buttons. Unless the problem you're talking about is something else.
Turns out that having my UI scaled up had me too far zoomed when I went to make a new character to be able to see the hide button. So on existing character I just set UI scale back to 1.0 and I was fine. Odd, but easy.

Same problem here. I will try the UI scaling work-around (I had to turn it up above 1.0 as well), but regardless - this is still a bug and needs to be corrected by the dev team.
The UI scaling options set by the player are being incorrectly applied to the character creation screen.

same issue, It seems like the screen is zoomed in too much. I can see half the buttons for rotate & screen at the bottom.

Yeh this is still an issue (made a character today, has not been fixed) especially with the body scaling features, it's very hard to tell what a character looks like without the ability to remove teh bulky endgame armour shown in the preview. Any word on a fix for this?
