I am looking at the players guide and a option for forgotten realms is gaining spellscarred abilities. Im wondering if this can be incorperated into neverwinter as an additional set of powers to work with your already chosen class. Be either player selected, random, or temporary in addition to the previous two.
I am thinking of an additional power slot where you could slot one spellscarred power. Im thinking around level 20 or whenever the spellplauge in neverwinter quest is over.
im just throwing this out there, most of these abilities would seem to help any class, alot of them are close ranged melee stuff but some if it is defensive and ranged.
But seriously, spellscarred will need more than just a power. Being a spellscarred changes the outlook of NPC towards you completely - having just a taint of spellscarred has that much effect. All the ghost will feel scared or threatened by you, if NW guards see you, they will deport you to Helm's Hold or they will assign you on the abyss - no spellscarred in the city.
Thus there has to be a lot done than just add a power in case of spellscarred.
Yea, I would love the spellscarred as a class in their own right. Strikers, real glass-cannons. Using invis and personalized defenses to avoide aggro and dmg. I would love that class, almost no AoE, just one target spells, and able to take 2 max 3 hits before death.
I am really interested in learning about the spellscarred, the blue cult (was that was the insane group was called)

I could see it working like the Drow Renegade background. Could have a mention by the npcs that some spellscarred are able to control it, but lose some of their power.
Seriously, if anyone have a source-book, and can kind of outline the detriments and psychology of a spell-scarred in this thread. I would be very greatfull.
I was aiming towards somewhere between Type avoidant coupled with minor version of ptsd and anxiety pathology (still in manageble levels ofcourse).

My DM first explained it to me as:-
Spellscarring is like a powerful beast sleeping inside you. It wants to tear out like hulk. But every-time you surpass limits of the power, or use more of it than you should, you mutate like an ugly beast becoming an eye, a stalk or headless frog. Your potential is limitless because you can channel all of the magic through your body. Hence everyone is afraid of you. When you learn to control it, you are still afraid to use it because you are like superman and world feels like a cardboard box to you.
Aight, that sounds about as I understood it, only better put. Thank you for confirming that the info I had found was actually part of the canon. Spellscared is defenitley going to be a central theme for my campaigns. Though they are not going to be portraid as Superman, only that they get the feeling that they are superman.

I think Aoth Fezim could get into the city based on his reputation and he was hit by the blue fire, lived and was transformed.

That was pretty much on the mark.
