How about an upgrade from Guardian to Hero?

So....seems to me that a good idea would be to offer a separate package for the Hero of the North packs if you have already purchased the Guardian of Neverwinter pack. An upgrade package where you are no longer a Guardian (with items/benefits), but a Hero (with items/benefits) only....not where you pay $260 to get both sets of benefits.

I for one bought the Guardian pack for $60, and I'm seriously contemplating buying the Hero of the North pack (maybe I'll wait until after the next Beta weekend and to see if I got into the Foundry Testing ;) ).

I am going to be much more likely to fork over an extra $140 to upgrade from Guardian to Hero instead of an extra $200 when the benefits cross over (much more in Hero pack admittedly hence the consideration). Like I said, charge me an extra $10 if you find it needful (although doing that would be a bit of a money grab IMO) and I'm still much more likely to pay it.

Seems like a win-win situation for you guys (PWE) and us, what dya think?

Just food for thought!

Not to continue beating a dead horse...But this is yet another way the whole drow thing was poorly handled by Cryptic. It's almost like they made a "Heads I win, tails you lose" Scenario. To be honest, this should have probably been an option from the get go. I approve!

Ask for a refund. Once you get it buy the HotN pack. There is no doubt the system sucks. I mean you can't even buy a pack and gift it to someone. What kind of nonsense is that. However this is most likely a PWE failing not a Cryptic one. I would guess PWE is handling all the money.

Surely if there is enough demand this should be jumped on by PWE/Cryptic.

Supply vs. Demand and all that?

Maybe in a month or so. People keep thinking businesses react like forum goers. If they had not been discussing it for a few weeks already it is unlikely it will be in for Founders Packs before the OB starts. Maybe for the future though. When I opened a ticket to ask about gifting founders pack, the response was to use paypal to transfer the person money. No "but in the future maybe" or anything like that.

I dunno mate. If they think they have the possibility of getting a bunch of folks to pay an extra $140 (these people who are likely to have played and enjoyed the first Beta weekend) they should capitalize on that in a heartbeat. Like I said, win-win all around, if they haven't got it in the works yet.....the game is missing out on more $$$ for development of the game (remember: everything F2P......eventually).

You are missing the point. Things don't happen that fast in larger companies. They have meetings with one department and then email threads then more meetings with another department, then legal gets involved then web development, then more meetings and before you know it two weeks have gone by and nothing has actually been decided. Then someone brings up a different way to do it and that option is explored. Then once everything is decided the web interface has to be built to accommodate the new system. It needs to be tested, check for security (there are LOTS of rules governing what has to be done to secure credit card purchases over the internet) and bugs and then finally put up live. This is a serious process. People like to think these things happen in a day or two bu they don't. Now with both PWE and Cryptic involved you have to add a whole other layer to the time it takes.

No, I'm not missing the point, I understand what you're saying. The success of this game however is going to be somewhat based on the income they can get from it.

Even something as simple as 'In order to upgrade from Guardian to Hero, please purchase the Hero pack, send us a message, and $60 will be credited to the account you've paid from' (card, paypal etc.)

You should make a thread regarding this.

I believe at this point I would upgrade to hero if I could do it for $140.00

I would be much more likely to buy HotN if there was an upgrade option. Dropping $60 on a new game is standard but $200?!?!?! That's insane!

I hate to gravedig here, but I was thinking the same thing. I have a ticket in to support to see if they can make this happen. Has anyone else had any luck with regards to this sort of an upgrade?

I remember a certain game where the best founder's pack available cost over $1000. Now that's insane.

As it was said in the other threads, these are separate packs with separate items. How would they handle the upgrade post launch? Take away the wolf/horse/effect-items and replace it with the panther/spider/hero-effect-items?
Just award the extra items for $140 so you have both packs? Do the heroes get both packs too by default?
I see an uproar with these upgrades. All I can see them doing is what they currently allow. Refunds before launch so you can buy a different pack or allowing people to buy both.
