Lightning Bolt and Fanning the Flame

Hi guys, Lightning Bolt and Fanning the Flame used to bethe both paragons specific encounters before mod 16, and were very popular spells.

Lightning Bolt was a good aoe spell, with zone aiming, reasonnable cd and good magnitude.

Fanning the Flame had lond cd but very high magnitude against single targets, with additional damage to nearby enemies. I always loved the spell design, making it very versatile and fun to use.

In mod 16, both spells got nerfed very hard.

Lightning Bolt has now a magnitude of 200, which is too low for a spell with a such limited aoe.
Moreover, the aiming zone visual has been removed, making the aiming complicated.
And finally, the spell often misses its targets, especially when moving. When you walk forward and cast the encounter, you see the lightning animation behind the toon. This never happened before mod 16.

Fanning the Flame became the weakest wizard encounter.
- The magnitude on the main target is 100, 5 ticks of 20 over 1.5x5=7.5 sec. This magnitude far too low, so the spell is awful for 1v1. The dot tick far too long, especially for pve. Moreover the cd is wizard's longest (20sec).

- The additional damage to main target from minion (Gathering flame) is also a 1.5sec dot, but it ticks 4 times only. Each tick has a magnitude of 33 for every nearby foe (so 132 in total, tooltip is very misguiding)

- The additional damage to minions is also a 1.5sec dot, 4 ticks, 33 magnitude each, aka 132 in total.
The formula of the total damage is 100+132xn+132xn, for each n minions.
n=0, damage= 100 (fireball 250)
n=1, damage= 364 (fireball 500)
n=2, damage= 628 (fireball 750)
n=3, damage= 892 (fireball 1000)
n=5, damage= 1420 (fireball 1500)
n=10, damage= 2740 (fireball 2750).
These are the maximum damage, if no minions die during the dot (that never happens).
So, Fireball has always higher magnitude. But since it has twice less cd than fanning the flame (10 vs 20 sec), Fireball always has twice more dps.

- The extra damage dealt when a nerby foe dies has been removed.

To conclude, Lightning Bolt needs a higher magnitude and a better aiming, either the old aiming visual or a target aiming (like cleric's Searing Javelin).

Fanning the Flame needs a much higher main st magnitude, to make it viable in boss fights. I maintain that making Fireball st on mastery was a bad idea, ftf should take this role. The tick cd of 1.5sec is too long for pve. Finally, its cd of 20 sec is far too long.
