when necromancers?

are we ever getting any necromancers right in any games these days? or are they out of fashion now? and by necromancer i mean really summoning permanent undead minionS, not just 1... and chilling looking necromancers not like the warlock wearing bdsm clothes. it is really demanding tho.... other games screwed it up lately

    This game does not have right Undead race for specific Necromancers class with bone/skulls visual elements (for example, as in diablo 3). Really, I can not imagine players with a class of necromancers running as Dragonborn, Drow, Dwarf, etc.. The other problem is that the Warlock class has a lot of similarities to "Necromancer" in Neverwinter, unfortunately..

    Necromancer isn't a class in D&D. It is a college of magic for wizards but at best, might qualify for a paragon path for that class here.

    Wizards have a few options for skull laden clothing but the traditional robe is unlikely to happen. Even full length fashion pieces are rare, wedding dress is the only one I can think of and its animations are weird.

    And that single fact is why it would almost certainly never be added - keep in mind that all major design decisions have to be approved by WotC. Now, if you look at the 5th edition classes, we are missing Bards, Druids, Monks and Sorcerers. I really do not see Sorcerers as viable - too similar to wizards, but the other three would all add something new and unique.
    Hoping for improvements...

    yes then call it a specialized wizard, whatever you wanna call it. it's fantasy lore and there are no rules that there shouldn't be a necromancer in it. it doesn't hurt anyone.

    I hope they add this sort of "wizard" as paragon or class in future.

    The closest we would see of Necromancers, is as a paragon path of wizards. This is simply because of the partnership with WotC and how things need to be in line with DnD. We will see new classes sooner than a 3rd paragon path simply due to the work required to balance out 8+ new paragon paths with what already exists.

    Yes, there is a rule/contract for this game. Yes, it can hurt Cryptic because they would lose the license and probably the game. No, they can't just add something like this without approval.

    We see necromancers regularly. We destroy them because they are evil. Playing with dead things, throughout D&D lore, has been evil.

    Players are supposed to be heroes.
    I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

    yes but a contract can always be negotiated. if this addition benefits both the players, publishers, developers and all shareholders...then I wouldn't see any barriers. and yes obviously... an approval is always needed, but if this gets into debatte, they might consider this pivot.
    Sure but not before the other 3 or 4 missing official classes which were requested to have for years. Cryptic has just changed all the class names to match the class names in the 5th edition. It sure looks they will go that way.
