I'm a lvl 70 noob

I'm a level 70 noob and I need advice. I need better gear to go through the content but I can't seem to get the stuff I need for it. I thought if I got enough demonic ichor I could get some purple gear in gauntlygrym but I don't seem to be getting any after doing the repeatables over and over. I've run a few dungeons and skirmishes but its not really getting me anywhere.

Go see Lord Neverember (the guy on the throne) and accept the Unexpected Visitors quest. The quest leads you out the gate, and into a zone on the east side of the map. This starts off the Ravenloft campaign. Once you complete the introductory quest, the reward is a full set of Vistani Gear plus Rank 8 enchants.

Also remember that gear is just a small part of it. You need to get boons, enchants, mounts with insignias, companions...

It is the sum of all these that carries the boat.

You can get some nice gear by running dungeons such as ELOL, VT and MC- you get seals, and then buy Primal gear.

You #1 thing to focus on first with refinement points are refining bonding stones for your summoned companion. Which one you choose is dependent on what class and role and even content you are doing. Don't worry about end game ones that cost a million AD on the AD market (the new shiny is the tiger), there are plenty of decent ones at decent prices. Your summoned companion also raises your item level depending on what gear you give them, I typically give them the best gear before I will even give it to myself.

Ones that slot three rings are typically the easiest to equip because (as others have said above) you can gain seals of the brave by running your random dungeon runs (you max a 1200 so spend them or you lose them). The seals guy is in the bazaar and the second tab has the rings. For your companion you want recovery because you want them to spam their actions (proc) and when they do so you gain Companion's Gift, basically all their stats including the rings.

Good advice. IT helped a lot! Thanks. I've got a ways to go getting my item level up, but the barovia gear helped. Now I have to find out how to get marks of potency other than paying AD for them.

Also remember that if your doing a random leveling (and Intermediate if able) They provide Seals that you can turn in for Primal gear at the seal vendor in chult or enclave. The newest campaign is easy to complete for boons which are not the worst boons available in campaigns considering. That will help with IL as well as stats. Pay attention to your insignia bonuses and the quality of the insignia you are using. The mount itself does not count toward IL the insignia do. The bonuses help with a multitude of things.

Talk to neverember and do the quest for Barovia to get free gear, then do random queue to get purple primal gear il 500, and get lvl 8+Bonding Runestones for your companion

Marks of potency can drop (rarely) from the skill nodes. This is not reliable. Right now is a CTA event. If you run it often enuf you drop a currency (meddAlion of heroism, I think) which can be used to buy skins for your weapons & other useful items. One of these items is a coffer full of RP. Some of these (randomly, of course) can be Marks of potency. Also, you can buy coffers with your daily invoke coins, on the second tab. For 11 coins you get one of two coffers that drop RP. And if you are working on the Dred Ring campaign, there is a quest to forge Gauntlets to open the arcane coffers at the end of the daily dungeons. These also reward random RP. Some players save up all of these RP boxes and open them during 2X Refining Stone events to double their chances of getting the really valuable rewards.

Check out the responses to my post regarding being new at 70: https://arcgames.com/en/forums/neverwinter/#/discussion/1245316/ive-been-playing-at-level-70-for-a-while-and-boy-do-i-still-suck

This thread was very helpful to me. Plus, I found some very cool people that helped me out via PM and online while in game. It's a great community.

Do the AI campaign which is easy for level 70. It gives you a r14 enchantment in the middle of the campaign.
