Crafting +1 Gathered materials - Any benefit?

Anyone happen to know if there is any benefit to use +1 gathered materials as opposed to standard materials when crafting items. Have experimented by swapping +1 and standard and this does not seem to change the proficiency or the focus and the tool tips for the gathered materials are the same.
Any thoughts?

+1 materials do affect the focus. It doesn't seem to be a consistent amount. The devs have said it's supposed to be a maximum of 20%, but I've only seen 6% so far. At the same time, I haven't checked very many recipes. So take my observation with the requisite amount of anecdotal salt.
