Masterwork rings

Is there any specific reason why masterwork rings are bound to character ?
I just bought new rings to balance my stats on my main and now I cant use them on an alt

For the most part, once you equip anything it becomes bound to that character (There are some exceptions). The rings are not bound until then or they would not be able to be sold as they would bind to the character crafting them.
