After getting NEW monitor (Dell U2518D) having weird screen artifacts (youtube sample)

Hello guys, i just wanted to know, if there is anyone else out there who is experiencing similar artifacts on their 60Hz monitors as i am having.

This is the issue, happens on 0:13s , 0:55s and 2:20, i dont know how would i describe it, i guess "overlaying" one frame with another but in a slightly different vertical possition? making it really annoying to look at.

I have to say, till now i was using LG Flatron 1960tr with no such artifacts at all (the monitor uses max resolution of 1280x1024@75hz tho).
Happens on any resolution i set my monitor to that is set @60Hz (V.Sync function does not help, it is the same with or without, even when i force graphic driver to override game's settings with GPU settings, still the same, V-sync adaptive or fast, tripple buffering ON or OFF, nothing of this sort helps, reinstalled drivers for GPU too in case that could cause that, but nop)

So please, let me know if this is something some of you have experienced, and if so, how can i prevent it/solve it, thank you.

Hey, thanks for answer.

Yes it does appear in any game i have (team fortress 2, NW, World of tanks, Forza horizon)

Checked the link, nothing of any use there, thanks anyway, this is kind of specific problem i think, would be best if someone would recognize the issue.

@z0w3r is that a camera video of your monitor or a screen capture? If all you changed was your monitor, and you didn't change your video card or video drivers, I can't think of why you'd see a change in a screen capture. But changing the monitor would totally explain the ghosting and tearing in a camera-captured video.
And since you're seeing it in multiple games, I think it's the monitor hardware that's the problem.

Its my monitor recorded with my smartphone (you can even see physical monitor on the video) but its not the recording thats causing this tearing.

Exactly what you can see on the video at those specific time frames above, is visible live on my screen. Pretty annoying to look at.

I dont understand your point about ghosting and tearing issue is understandable by camera captured video, could you explain some more please?

But saying again, this "frame overlapping" thats visible 3 times in this video, is whats visible live when i sit behind my monitor. So for sure monitor is the issue, but how to solve it or is it something 60hz monitors does?

If so, seems weird that i didnt find similar issue anywhere.

I've used variety of monitors, and now using 2 Dell U2414 and no such issues (at least that I saw, and I clearly see the tearing in your videos). Even my old sPVA Samsung 970p (and that was a relatively slow response panel) didn't have such issue nor I saw it in any screen.

So, to the question if it's something normal to 60hz LCD, IMO, no.

btw dell has issue with Displayport 1.2 implementation on some of the ultrasharps, don't now how it's now, but you may want to try and disable it if you use display port and not hdmi. (It's in the screen settings)

Allright, thanks for answers guys, will keep testing it.

Disabling DP 1.2 seems as its of no help, switched it to DP 1.1 and its the same.

HDMI cable didnt help too, still the same

Did you use the drivers for the monitor from the disk in the box?
You may want to check for newer drivers from the dell website

I installed the newest drivers from Dell, also reinstalled drivers for my GPU and tested all settings related to V-sync and tearing i found online, nothing helped.

I also tried tot ake my PC to my friend's place and test the monitor on his machine, did the same thing, also his monitor which is Dell U2716d worked just fine on my PC, no tearing at all.

So i will return this monitor and get something else.
