chult hunt question

My guildie and i were doing some hunts together and didnt really care that other people jumped in. Ive done it, we've all done it. However, on one of them, somehow another person was added to our group. Not sure how that happens when neither of us are set to auto teaming. This person took our epic piece and continued on their way.
Can anyone tell me what could cause this to happen?

You must not have noticed it, but one of you has used open party - accept without asking as last party as the last party setup. or even if you changed it but waas using that before, sometimes it is buggy and have to keep changing a couple of times.

Or they used the add to party bug... similar to add to guild bug to steal items

Too late now, but the "log" button will usually provide more detail there. There is also the slight chance that he hit "request to join party" on one of the two of you, and the button popped up on the group leaders screen and he simply didn't read/realize it was a request to join the party and hit shift + 1, allowing them to join. This button should be different than loot buttons. Shift + 0 for accept, Shift +2 for decline would be nice.

As much as I like the idea of "hunts" I have a lot of issues with their implementations and loot reward method. Such as giving the lure piece to random and sending it to someone who didn't make the lure, or even have that tier of lures open.

Even worse, if you try to solo the mob and a group comes along and out dps's you, all loot gets destroyed. Neither you, nor the other group gets any rewards.

Set loot mode to "Party Leader Decides" when in a hunting party.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Ill be trying out a few of the next time i go hunting. There fun and I do enjoy them. And its definitely not my usual way grinding out my totems. Just want to kill everything at least once.
