Question regarding the effect of race reroll on racial quests.

I am curious, after changing to a different race, does the game retroactively replace NPC's from the previous racial questlines (such as Vichorn Vrockwing in Driftwood Tavern for Tieflings) with those of the new race? Or do they remain in place and agree to simply not talk about the player's new racial choice? Seems like it could cause some consistency issues if a player were to reroll in the middle of their racial questline.
