Would cross platform (character) transfers be possible?

Hello there,

I know that cross platform is currently unavailable; doesn't work, but i was just wondering if that feature would be available in the future.
Lately my PC has been more accessible for me and playing on it would be better, however, i'm not looking forward to spending the same amount of time and money that i already spent on my 3 characters..

is there anything that i can do, any possibility of transferring the characters or something of sorts?

They wanted to keep the platforms separate for a variety of reasons.

I personally would prefer one big happy family regardless of what computer you connect with. Imagine if Macs needed a separate server than PC? That's what console specific servers sound like to my ears...

Eventually game companies will advance to having one massive community instead of segmenting their PC and Console compatriots. Microstoft is actually making a big push for this on their end so even if Playstation cares about their ® too much to play nicely with others (companies really need to put that ® everywhere you see it and it is enforced by Playstation®) the walls will eventually be taken down by Xbox and PC.

That said, it's highly unlikely Transers for NW will exist. The biggest reason that NW didn't allow server transfers or share servers between NW and Xbox was because they wanted a fresh start for those playing on consoles and that decision also enforced keeping the economies separate.

It's hard to say never when working on a game but for at least the foreseeable future there's little to no chance of account transers between the servers especially since each server has their own exclusive promo items.

The short answer is: it's incredibly unlikely to ever happen.

It's not technically impossible to develop, but there is currently no functionality to allow for it.

And then there's the bigger issue: allowing platform copies would almost certainly cut into revenue, unless the copying service was priced absurdly high.

That's the major reason I don't think we'll see this: it's great for players but it's hard to find a solution that would look appealing from the publisher's financial standpoint.

That's understandable, but making the transfer a 'one time' thing wouldn't affect the publishers financially.. especially if it was for someone who occasionally pays for zen, but i don't know, i'd rather play and pay on a platform i enjoy rather than do so on a platform i'm not comfortable with.

It's very unlikely. I don't think it's possible to just port your account over. They'd have to physically rebuild your entire account; including characters, currency, zen balance, mailbox, etc on PC as well as adjust all your items and item levels to conform with the mod difference.

I could be wrong though and it could just as easily be a 1 2 3 process.

Given the fact that PC will almost always be at least 1 build ahead of the consoles, and each platform has some items that are platform specific, I would say you have a greater chance of getting a Legendary item out of a lockbox without having VIP and only buying 1 key a year.

I guess I'll just play until my VIP expires then I might take a long break or just quit all together
