[PC] Are you able to play Mod 11.5 without issue? If so, What kind of system do you have?

I don't usually make posts in a forum but I'm honestly very curious about this. I hope I picked the correct forum.

Since my game patched the 11.5 patch for Shroud of Souls I've been among the people sitting on the sidelines. I see all these other people posting feedback and they aren't having the same issue as I am. If I chose to upgrade my system in order to be able to play, what would I need? What is actually working? My current system meets the minimum requirements listed on the game's website but I'm not able to play.

Please post some basic specs about that system you use to game on. IE Which operating system, CPU, Ram, Graphics Card?

I'm hoping to find an option that works with my budget, should I need to upgrade.

I have the same problem. My GPU just overheats now in PE or wherever. Admittedly my system is old and tired but it ran fine until the 11.5 patch.

No problems here. I don't run ARC, if'n that matters. I launch the Neverwinter.exe launcher directly.

You use a laptop or a desktop? I saw you have the Intel embedded gpu, but I don't remember the type. If it's a desktop in most cases, you can just buy a graphic card (and perhaps PSU) if needed and it will probably solve the issue and you wont need to play on low settings ( the game actually looks not bad on high). Also it's not a bad path, because if you will replace the howle system in the future you can keep the new graphic card and move it to the new computer.

I have a laptop currently but I'm not opposed to getting a desktop. I'd be getting a whole different system if I had to upgrade unfortunately.

I prefer desktops as they're much easier to maintain and upgrade. Almost everyone I know that prefers laptops, the only reason they prefer them is portability and then fewer of them prefer them because they're "better" but only those who claim this are ones who can drop thousands on a power-house laptop and can afford to replace it every few years. Desktops can be, if you get the right set up, upgraded far more easily and far far cheaper. I bought mine for $1,500 about 3 years ago and have only put $200 into it to keep it better than the average. I know folks who's spend double or triple that on a laptop to find themselves needing to get a whole new laptop due to a myriad of technical, compatibility, or hardware issues. Even going back to those who can afford "kick-HAMSTER" laptops, the reason they dish out so much goes back to portability. If you don't mind the portability issue, then in my opinion, a Desktop is the better choice.

Regardless, I wouldn't upgrade for any one game. I'd look into all the games and applications you use and make an overall decision on where to go based on what you do and need.

This is the only game I play. I don't use this computer for anything else at all. My files are stored on a cloud. This computer I'm using was a gift from a friend so that my husband and I wouldn't have to share our tower anymore. I checked on amazon and besides the ram I put in the computer the base laptop is posted there for $129.00 US. I'm hoping I don't need to shell out more than a 2-3 hundred bucks to log back in and play. If it's more than that I'll probably have to seriously evaluate if I want to continue playing at all.

LOL> Agreed but wanted you to have a reference point. I buy mine from outlet.dell.com. Same warranty as new, much better prices.

That's cheap, like really cheap. Dirt cheap... especially for a laptop. I'd be highly suspect of any computer, laptop or desktop, for under $500. The last desktop I bought cost me $800.00 and it lasted me well for almost 10 years. In fact, it still runs good and I have it running right now next to my newer desktop. It doesn't run NW that good anymore but it still runs things like EVE, WoW, and other MMOs just fine. I mostly use it now only for things like Skype, surfing the web, and TeamSpeak (when I rarely do use TS that is).

That's true, but the laptop wasn't that cheap when I started using it. The game has been out 4 years now and I've been using the same Laptop for 2+ years. I've had very few issues besides somewhat slow loading times. I think what's causing the problem is the Intel Integrated graphics.

I've completed everything in the game without trouble. Spellplague, FBI, Getting the master of SVA title/transmute. I'm done with every single boon on my main and I had all the masterwork professions finished other than the new ones I can't touch and a full set of everfrost gear and fey weapons with enough superior SVA marks to make whatever I want legendary.

I did all of that with a crappy potato of a computer that I could buy right now from amazon for $129.00 then add 4 gb of ram. :| Clearly, a $500+ new shiny computer hasn't been necessary until now.

I'm curious to see what is working for other people and to make my decision from that information. Thank you for your concern though :)

I admit i'm curious to know what the exact issue is too, as I'm running fine on an intel integrated card.

Intel Core i5 Laptop (just over 2 years old)
    Windows 10
    Intel Iris Graphics 5100
    I use Arc to launch

I don't run on high settings but things look and run fine, only problem I've had after the patch is some shadow flickering but I've dealt with that.
