Question About New Item Level

viperwitch23viperwitch23 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 205 Arc User
I have done a search and I can't find specific post about it.

My question is this:

Now Item Level counts artifacts, gear, enchantments etc to produce a number.
In Mod 11 it will count companion gear boons everything else. Mounts too

Yesterday my DC of item Level 2700 was refused a CN on the basis that she is ''too low to be of any use''
I logged my second DC of Item Level 3155 and she was accepted straight away.
Our GF tank that had Item Level close to 3500 was dropping dead as Orcus could 1 hit him.
This high Item Level DC is mainly buff and low heal, but she was accepted ONLY due to Item Level
At the end GF said I should delete my DC as she is useless as a healer.
But if he was close to 3500 item level how could he due so easily?
Shows again that Item Level don't matter in some cases

So why here are my questions about Module 11 changes:

1. When Item Level change happens does it men that current players of Item Level let's same as my DC will be significantly reduced in the Item Level?

2. Like current 3100 becomes close to 2500 in the new count?
May be I don't fully understand it so why I wish to make this post and ask for explanation

I remember what it was when was old Gear Score. People choose who goes with them to dungeons by just looking at gear score.

3. When Item Level came out it become much better - are we going backwards to Gear Score-like system where the rich decides who is good enough and who is not?

Loyal Gear is out of reach now that dds Item Level and Legendary mounts for every char as well

And what happens with current dungeons, please?

4. If 3100 can enter FBI now after recount wold they be able to enter or they get reduced in the Item Level and be locked out?

Thank You In Advance For Answers

Item level, gear score, whatever you want to call it...has always been a poor measuring stick, but for pugs its all people have.

The new system will basically try to put lipstick on a pig. It will be more accurate, but it wont change the fact that people will always want more than they need.

People are asking for 3k people now to run etos for petes sake.....

Preview has this all live so copy a toon there and see where you line up. It will take a while for people to get used to it..then we will be back to super unecessarily high requirements.

    Can't access preview.
    Else I wouldn't be asking.
My worry is that as it counts everything mounts powers boons etc chars that I got now will be greatly reduced in item level. But their skills to run CN 10x in a row and keep everyone alive will stay same.
So I see what happens, but it looks like that a lot of good players will ''loose quality'' in the view of others.

The only players that will lose "quality" and get locked out would likely be those that haven't gotten boons. According to the dev post, the IL you get from artifacts is 2x with weapons and gear being 3x (multiplied by current values, btw). Let's just say you're currently 3100 and for simplicity's sake, your 4 artifacts are at Legendary (130 IL). That's 520 of that 3100, leaving 2580 from your other gear. 2580x3=7740 and 520x2=1040. Adding those up gives you 8780 and, if my understanding of the changes is correct, should be your newly converted IL excluding ALL boons, mount powers, insignia, companions, and companion gear. Based on the new formula, you wouldn't be able to get into the t3 dungeons as they all req. 10600 now. For most players, that just won't be the case. I'm going to assume that you have companions with gear along with at least a modest number of boons, so you'll probably be fine. My 2.8 Ranger on live was copied over and shot up to 11.2k, to give you an idea of how much that extra stuff puts on (and he's only fairly well equipped; certainly not BiS). I know this is extremely subjective and just my opinion, but I don't think any "good" players will lose the ability to go to some dungeons, as the "good" players already knew the importance of boons, etc.

The only people that will lose out on the ability to do things they were doing previously will be people that neglected things. If you are lacking boons, mounts, companions, etc, you may find yourself below the minimum for some stuff.

In general, I think they tried to tweak it so that if you have progressed they way they expected, you'd be fine.

My hunter is just about BIS (curse you relic chest piece!), and I think I was around 15k. I'm going to laugh when that first LFG call comes out for 13k or something for ETOS.

Here is a lot of boon:
    TOD
    Elemental Evil
    Shandarar
    Dread
    Ice Wind Dale
    Storm King's Thunder
    River District

My DC in question got no boons at all except SH ones, but still is great dc for T1/T2

My question is: who was doing the refusing?

[Slightly off topic but I do wonder when I occasionally see relatively high specced toons with oranges and purples on but using rank 5 enchants. My relatively mild OCD just wonders why they haven't ranked up those enchants!]

If a GF can't take 32k of damage at 3.5k then he's the one that shouldn't be in the dungeon. (80% DR plus 80% from shield). If he's running a Tac build his Daily should pop fast with that kind of incoming damage and he's able to use Fighter's Recovery for self healing. A cast of Divine Glow should be all he needs to stay healthy.

He was probably a fail DPS spec and needs to stop blaming others.

Could be someone with more than one geared character but only a single set of good enchants. Just a guess, I can't be bothered to swap things around like that and I'd go for rank 7s as the backup at any rate.

An alt that was geared by the main. I've done it on most of mine. Their enchants tend to be low on the list of priorities and they'll get better ones when I get them or find a better one on my main.
