is there a way to have my name displayed over my toon's head? every MMO I play, I select that option, but haven't found a way to do that

It already is? Above your character's head is name, title (if one is selected) and guild. So, not sure what you are asking for.

Unless it is because you can't see it on your own character. I don't see a need for that, but maybe others will.

yeah, I always set it where I can see my own character's name, set title, and guild in every MMO I play
