Why Nerf the Vouchers

mynaammynaam Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 937 Arc User
Stronghold Vouchers will drop a little less frequently in this event.
(There should still be plenty.)

As a member of a small guild these really helped us the previous time this event was on now I read it has been NERFED without any detail. Will it still be worth wasting time on this event now. I have no leveling character and already have all the event offers. why should I even bother?

This is not meant as a rage or a rant I am just trying to understand the logic. They were applauded after the previous event and their reaction to positive feedback is NERF IT. Maybe we should start giving them positive feedback on things we hate and have that nerfed :)
There are more than BIS players in this game
RIP Real Tiamat, RIP Real Demogorgon RIP real Temple of the spider. Why remove non bis content to give to bis players ????
FORCING the majority of your player base to play 4 mod old dungeons and trial will have a bad result on player base
Changes are getting so bad i would rather prefer no new changes (RIP ICE FISHING in winter fest)

My thoughts exactly, the amount of positive reactions I saw from the previous Siege event, was a lot more than I've seen in a VERY long time.

And then they do something like this.

Not surprised though, the fact that happy customers spend more money seems unheard of in Neverwinter...

+1, this was a great event for guilds last time around. It's not "game breaking" that guilds can gather a lot of vouchers over just a few days. There's still time before tomorrow's patch... please consider undoing your change to the drop rate.

It seems funny that you mentioned the word "positive feedback". Since they nerfed this despite all the positive feedback but they decided to bring fishing on a whole new level in the next module despite all the negative feedback. Good to know they are listening and reading everything on the forum as they've mentioned a couple of times.

They should bring this back as it was the last event so we can progress our SH at a decent rate. SH progression is gated behind shards anyway so why not leave it as it was.

Feedback is relative to the listener's desire to act upon it one way or the other.

Generosity found in the game mechanics of a Free To Play game is almost always going to be a coding mistake due to improper or insufficient testing. This is the opposite of what Free To Play aspires to be. Generosity does not inspire the customer to open their wallet.
So the first rule of finding something like that is...Don't talk about it, or it's not going to last. They can figure it out on their own.. data mining since we know Devs hardly play their own games.

Too much generosity no, but too much grind either... Do you have an idea of how many players have left the game since Mod6 and the beginning of ridiculous grind?
The siege of Neverwinter is a punctual event, wich lasts for 2 weeks and happen once or twice in a year.
Have the ability to get a nice boost for our stronghold in that amount of time is not an exaggeration of kindness, specially when you know how much you need for your stronghold to improve...

I think it's a given and take. Too much "generosity" for too long a time is bad for business because it removes the need to pay up. But, at the same time, there are plateaus in Neverwinter. Getting artifacts to purple is quick, getting the orange is not, getting to mythic even harder.

Getting GH to 10 for a moderate size guild is hard but not extremely so - getting to GH 15 is very hard for even large casual guilds.

Giving events where they are "generous" and let people and groups see a solid progression from the even won't break the game long term and will make people very happy. Plus, that progression may make them feel like they can pay up a bit to keep the progress going...

I'm of the opinion that: "Reduced Drop Rate" is a monumental understatement, but I suppose that sounds better than 'going to make things significantly less favorable compared to what it used to be'...

Only tried it for about 30 minutes and after not getting anything but a dozen coffers and no vouchers I decided not to do the event. gg

it is the worst decision to nerf, it just earned Phil Foglio's "cheapass award".

    It looks like this:
If you give positive feedback they did not squeeze you hard enough.
If you give no feedback but participate in the event the pressure was possibly all right.
If you quit the game the pressure was to hard.

They dont want us to finish SH buildings unless we are willing to either gring our ***** off or buy everything from them ( via zen ).
Its probably like " we dont have anything for SH ready now (maybe in 5 months or so we do), so we have to drag it out for all guilds that are still building SH structures. increase the pain and suffering. dont listen to the positive feedback from the previous event."

just letting you folks to know, it took STO's starbase (fleet) < guild for almost 18-20 months to max the starbase and some smaller fleet (guilds) need some help from larger guilds as "Armada" term for Allainces as support so those smaller guilds can do dragonflights together.

nerfing SH drops is almost senseless, others claim the drops was bugged and too excessive.

now it just slow down alot since some players dont partipate the CTA/Siege events. too many players are already burnout.

I was on a break for the last Siege event, but did about 2-3 hours of grinding tonight. I've got in the neighborhood of 35 vouchers in my pack. I don't know what it was like last time, but this still seems pretty decent.

So you averaged about 14 vouchers per hour and you're saying that's decent... then enjoy :)
As for last time... try about 10x that lol

And no one amongst the playerbase can look at 140/hr as being just a wee bit excessive?

I'm not getting a drop from *every* kill, but it's still pretty regular.

"Excessive" is the word I'd use to describe the costs of the Stronghold structures. Also, the most important voucher (influence) is pretty rare this time around. Still worth farming though, just not as amazing as last time.

I've noticed that - of the 40+ vouchers I've got, 3 are for influence. :-/

Stronghold costs are another ball of wax completely, though, and a topic for a different thread. For the purposes of this topic, I'm finding that vouchers ate dropping regularly, and as a free bite, it's decent. My alt is going to need the guild marks.

It would have been nice to keep it at the previous level. But it isn't too bad now.
