I know that there is apparently a lot of AD circulating the economy which is why the ZEN/AD rate is so bad. Problem with this is that new players are at a major disadvantage because of this. Want something from the ZEN store? No problem, just pay close to 500 AD per ZEN and you're set, right. Prices for high level enchantments are so high that to just get one, you have to play for months and months. The only people able to afford these kinds of things are probably those who have been around for long enough to benefit from events and things that have been there in the past and aren't there any longer. 36k AD a day and all the daily sources are simply not enough to enable players with *some* ambition to get some good gear in a reasonable amount of time.
And even if you endure and save up those daily diamonds, once you have enough to buy what you want, the next module is around the corner, possibly rendering the stuff you just bought obsolete.

There is just such a huge barrier that new players have to climb to be "viable". The refinement limits are a restriction, yes, but until you're at 70, will you ever even hit the refinement cap ? I don't remember if I ever did. It's probably possible if you do X dungeons and X skirmishes and X pvp. But that takes a lot of time, and who really wants to do that just for a few thousand ad ? Which amounts to nothing in this economy.
The refinement cap, I don't really understand. I've had backlogged AD up to around 500-600k before. It makes no sense to only allow players to access a set amount per day. Maybe for the dungeon rewards, but salvages? That should go straight in my pocket.
That means there needs to be a progress path that it takes a good while to get through.
Really: First step is to get 70 and get *all* the campains done. When you get there you should be around 2500 IL unless you are doing something wrong. 2500 and all campaigns done is enough for all content in game except CN.
Getting there should take you 3-4 months of reasonable active play.
That sounds fair to me.
Now.. getting from 2500 to 4k is another story.. but you do not need 4k. 2500 is enough for all content but CN. (and probably the new tier 3 dungeon in mod 10)
If you play 2h / day, you can do 10-15k ad Day One / character ( lvl 12+ ). You don't really need AD before level 60 except if you want a faster mount ( there is free and easy possibilities with events like winter/summer fest ) or a starter pet ( there is free possibilities with events and promo keys ).
You need one month for earn enough rAD for pay the first VIP month ( 850 zens ). Before that, you can up 60+/70 if you don't stop the game because of bugs, lags, content, community.
Once 70, you can easily reach 2000+ ilvl with few AD ( blue gear in AH + loot + R7 + blue free artifacts ). At 70 / 2000+ you can find a small guild who is a part of an alliance with Guild Market and guildmates for epic dungeons.
Once you have access to a Guild with guild market, you can easily reach 2500-2800 ilvl. And it's done. There is no real pve content for 2.8k+ players.
If you play 2h/day, you need 1 mod for reach 2.8k if you learn how the game works.
For more than 2.8k in F2p, you need more time. More Alts.
Learn how to take advantage of events and such. If you wanna be rich, you gotta build up some AD that you can invest. It is impossible even for the BiS players to get rich just from grinding.
