The Elminster Event Skirmish and new characters - am I leveling out of control?

Last night I noticed the new event it looks like everyone is running, and it said I could join this dungeon at level 6+. Was level 8 at the time so off I went. One single run of it, I came out at almost 17 (close enough that one quest later I was 17).

I'm a little worried about jumping into there again - I'm now a level 17 running around with gear half my level. On the one hand it looks like I want to run this thing daily - on the other hand am I going to end up with a level 70 before I barely even know where the 'forward' keybind is...
(Ok, I got forward... but what about backwards? )

Its a fun event. This isn't a complaint. I had a blast even though I imagine my group was thinking "who is this fool mashing all the wrong buttons?"

Its more of a "hmmm" combined with "if I keep at this, is it going to be rough on me afterwards catching things up and figuring out vital lore?"

Nah, you'll be able to pick up better gear from simple mobs your level or buy something usable in ah for cheap.

And you still get most of the learning quest in your level up box.

The biggest problem is finding the quest givers for quests that you have out leveled, if you still want to do them. The big exclamation mark above their heads disappear once you get to a much higher level.

Oh, and you'll miss the chance to complete skirmishes once you passed their level gap. That can be a bugger if you want to complete everything. If you miss them, the only hope you have is that they will show up as CTA events.

And, anyway, the skirmish won't level you to 70. You need more XP to go from 69 to 70 than it takes to get all the way from 1 to 59.

That said, take the time to do all the skirmishes. Partially blacklake and rothe valley because there's no CTA event for those so if you miss it, you can't earn the achievement later on once you've leveled past it.

If he is level 17, its already too late for blacklake.

The experience gain is stupidly high for low levels from events like this. Fine if you want to speed level, but otherwise it completely ruins levelling. This game could do with a way to turn off extra sources of experience gain for people who like to actually follow the story.

I decided to not run the event more than once per character. It threw my levels off to the point where my quests were 5-10 levels under me. Mobs give little to xp, so it is slowly fixing itself, but it means my GF now can't do much as breath at a job old or she will out level the skirmish I want to do (she's level 37 right now I think).

Do I really want the room unlock from this event? It seems like a fairly empty mini-zone.
