Coupons consumed when claiming free items

I had a 15% off any item coupon in my inventory. I was looking around the Zen Market to decide what I wanted to use my zen on, and decided to go ahead and claim the free winter wolf on that character while I was looking at the mounts (I had previously claimed the mount on another character). When I did so the coupon disappeared. My log shows I got the coupon at 18:09 pacific, and acquired the wolf at 18:17, so the coupon had not simply expired. It was used to give me 15% off of a 0 Zen purchase.

It really shouldn't do that.
