+1 the whole heroic encounter thing is getting out of hand and heavily impacting game performances in older zones.
the idea should not be totally scrapped by the way. For example i m sure player would have loved a "heralds like" system as in well of the dragons which took place in an actual underdark.
god this mod is so senseless....where is the underdark??? why are we killing demons trying to reach portals to go back in the underdark? Why are these HEs the same on 3 maps?????

I will say this- For the most part I am an explorer. I enjoy exploring new areas/content/instances and using logic and insight to solve problems and defeat enemies. Some of my favorite content were 'hidden' bosses in dungeons like Spellplague. Hidden rooms in dungeons like Castle Never. Right now my favorite dungeons are MC and ECC because there is still that feeling of exploration- despite having done the dungeons quite a few times I still get that brand new feeling when I take someone through the optional rooms of MC just for fun.
Heroic Encounters do not satisfy my need for exploration or problem solving. I like figuring out mechanics and tinkering. None of that is required here.
Skirmishes are basically instanced heroic encounters-the new ones have some mechanics but the NPC tells you what to do. Zerg rushing enemies is not something I enjoy. I crave careful, deliberate and skilled gameplay and content. The lair quests in various Modules helped with that a little but now they are just like everything else. - Run through as fast as possible, kill everything and move on-
When the game gears its self toward rewarding repetition instead of deliberate and skilled game play it feels less like DnD. I like being able to apply the real 'party' mechanics and find out what my character can do given a situation like REAL DnD. Applying some thought to get the party out of the dungeon for instance-- having a flash of insight about a new strategy while fighting a boss.
Community is what is keeping me in this game. I'm lucky to have made some good friends in the guild my Husband and I are in. I hardly ever PUG and I prefer to run dungeons with my friends/guildmates or NW Legit channel members because I don't consent to being verbally abused or whined at while trying to have a good time. Even if the comments are not directed at me- it bothers me in pug groups. Reporting it does nothing- so I stopped trying that a long time ago.
I would like something that requires thought again. Old Dungeons did that for me. I'd like a new one too connected with the lore of the Underdark.. you know- Maybe fighting Gromph or something? How cool would that be xD
the only upside to this module is i've caught up on my netflix queue while camping the stupid crab in drowned shores.
Perhaps I should try this while waiting on the Crab. -- I've been avoiding it something awful since they nerfed the heroic encounter to 25 minute wait. Perfect timing for one episode of a network TV show. xD

Well, at some point in the hopefull very near future they will just move the demonic heroic encounters to their own Underdark map area. Campaign areas are allready lagging bad enough, it's high time to do something about it...
I think the original poster has made good points with regards to Heroic Encounters, there are too many in Mod 6 data as it is currently and it is not very value adding. Give the devs some time to sort things out, I do agree that Heroic Encounters are rather annoying then fun in Elemental evil.
these demon HEs will be abandoned within 3-4 months and making harder to get tokens needed for twisteds and boons. some are now running with alts, then any new commers will be frustrated with roadblock and not able to do any demon encounters.

they just arent back until they are back. Those indeed are just words in an AMA to avoid further discussions on the matter.
HE's are better $ then the dungeons in $ vs time. So from a purely economic perspective. Mod 8 HE's pay. And if they suck, why are so many people grinding them? People are skipping the dragon heralds and farming the HE's in WoD. 4 HEs instances vs 1 or 2 DR instances. The numbers till the tail.
I like it as a time killer, jump in, kick butt, leave when I want. No parties. No pugs, no kicks, no drama, no so-and-so running ahead and dying and blaming everyone for his/her mistake.
My complaints about the HEs. Dull as hell. The escape demons is the worst HE ever. They just walk past you. If you're not DPS, you might as well just sit in the corner and watch. Since healing and tanking there is useless. Don't step in red lines, you live. As a GF, I'm pretty much useless there to watch the GWFs kill everything while I swat at a demon for 2 minutes till someone comes over and finishes it off.
Even if you're having bad ring-drop luck with HEs, you'll still make the AD faster then running (literally) temple of the spider. Dungeon AD= 2 run daily cooldown. HEs rings = no cool down.
They said they want to reward players with AD, the HEs are a way to make that happen. Easy for solo players. I'm sick of PUG drama BS. Too much ego.
That said, the old dungeons need to make a reappearance. It's a total shame to leave some amazingly done assets rotting in the basement.
I do how ever like the fact that small guild and solo players can get the New weapons. Especially the Edemo weapons ... since i believe in 3 months it will be impossible for a solo player to get the HE weapons. It will be like trying to fight the Remorhaz at this moment. It is simply not possible or you have to be very lucky.
The solo players are doing better than the guilds, because the Stronghold weapon still has not seen the light of day. It was a concept weapon only, I figger.

First, Dragonflight gear IS currently the best in the game, but the Elemental Drowcraft gear is a pretty close second for PvE and it's absurdly easy to get solo (assuming you have completed IWD). Item level 142 for the Elemental Dragonflight vs 140 for the Elemental Drowcraft and very similar stats. The Drow gear's bonuses if anything make it far better for completing epic Demogorgon than Dragonflight. That is one nice thing that Mod 8 did was provide solo players an easy way to get near BiS gear. Honestly, either the Drowcraft or the Dragonflight (or even the Elven Gear from Mod 6) is plenty to complete any PvE content in the game easily - the content never did increase enough in difficulty to require the newer armor.
As for the lack of rank 8+ guilds to join ... I'll admit this is an issue to some degree. But the truth here is you were never really meant to join a guild that was already rank 8+, you were meant to join a guild and help them get to rank 8 and higher. Getting a small guild from rank 1 to rank 8 is no small task, but having done it myself, I can tell you it was well worth the effort. The bottom line here is Stronghold rewards take effort and grinding, but if you are willing to put in the work and build up a guild in size, there are some pretty nice rewards for it.

Well your first issue here is that you are looking at a guild as just a way to get stuff. Small guilds turn into big guilds by recruiting people, helping them grow into better players and running content with them. Your guild mates should be people you enjoy running content with. If you think of a guild as nothing but a rank 4 marketplace that gets you BiS gear, then it's no wonder you can't build a guild or join a rank 8 one. Guilds don't want members just here for the gear, they want members who are here to contribute and participate. Dragonflight gear is a benefit of getting a guild to rank 8, not the reason to join a guild.

This thread isn't about guilds or dragonfligt gear, it's about the dreadful lack of content Cryptic presented as mod 8, and the Heroic Encounters they gave us instead to keep us busy until they can come up with a Mod 9 .... which hopefully will have some real content and not more Heroic Encounters!
While I appreciate that HEs are intended to help solo players, honestly the PUG dungeons and skirmishes are fine by me - the updated vote kick rules protect the solo player (mostly) from ne'er do wells who enjoy being chaotic evil d-bags.

The Underdark storyline in mod 8 was good, but brief. I'm assuming it picks up again in Mod 9. I'm hoping a new Underdark dungeon is also added (NOT another Demogorgon-ish HE/skirmish).

Agreed but the sad fact is in the last few months due to the fact that players are being constantly nagged to create a guild the small guilds grew. Leading to discouraged players.
As for recruiting and helping we have helped many players from low level to 70 and each and every time they get to 70 they nicely thank us for being such a great guild, but the want dragon flight gear and leave.
Since I can solo the major HE's in the SH I even invite the low level players on these and they seem very happy to finish a major HE at lvl 20-30 the problem is when they get to 70 and they can't buy dragon flight .. they leave. This cause small guilds to fail. So either support have to come to small guilds or larger guilds should have a larger player base ... increase the 150 limit.
There is also something to be kept in mind not all guild want to be big guild. There is a big diversity in types(e.g. family guild, people from the same school/dorm...,etc) of guilds and to have a system that only favor big guilds is really unfair.
I have previously laid out a different tier guild system, but that seems to have fallen on deaf man's ear.
P.S. I have been invited to big guilds on more than one occasion, but I do not want to be in a big guild I am happy with my guild. I am trying to fight to prevent the loss of even more players(leaving Neverwinter) that the current guild system is causing

devs need to add "Guild Alliances" format to help out those smaller guilds, STO's Fleet Armada was susccessful, i dont see why they didnt add to NWO yet.

I got at lease 2 - 3 from HEs in the "Well"
They are a good way to make AD, which is why I ran the old epic DDs
The only thing is they don't lead anywhere... but either did the old epic DDs so they are no worsw.
