Hello everyone I’m a new GF to the Forums but I have been playing Neverwinter on Xbox since the release week ( I’m a 15k Human GF ), and I’m going to give you my thought on why I think a Conqueror Build is the best. as well as be open to criticism.
First I would like to say why I think a Conq is better than a Protector/Tactician.
-Offers much more dps with little defense/support trade offs.
-Can tank just as well as the other builds.
-Sounds Cooler
-Can buff everyone’s dps while doing solid damage for themselves
-Can play pvp more interestingly instead of KV,ITF, Iron Warrior on 2 with a healer.
Now I will discuss my gear and reasoning behind what I use
For pve I will use the Draconic Set ( Until I get the Draconic Templar Set ) since it offers more health and overload slots which make tanking a cake walk. I use the Greater Blue and Green Glyphs because the Greater Blue Glyph give defense and some dps while the Greater Green Glyph helps me tank and pulls more with good dps. For this set I will have all darks in my armor slots for the run speed. For my jewelry I use the Necklace of Shielding ( will switch to Cloak of Seldarine ) with 2 Rings of Evasion since I love the 181 Life steal/Deflect as well as get some HP too. If you can afford it then make the Personalized Hero Rings because they offer very powerful bonuses and have 2 enchant slots. In my all of my defense slots I use Radiant’s and in all of my offense slots I used the one that give recovery ( don’t know the name ). For my shirt/pants I use Gemmed Exquisite shirt and pants.
For pvp I will use the Profound Conqueror Set since its 4 piece bonus is amazing and it gives tenacity so I can get controlled less and hit less hard in pvp. In this set I use all Darks as well to focus on getting my movement up since GFs are slow moving. For my jewelry I use the Necklace of Suffering, and 2 Rings of Pain. These give very large bonuses to crit and armor pen which allow me to kill enemies in 1 rotation of skills. The offence slots are a half and half between dark and azure for the crit and armor pen. The defense slots are radiant’s. I use the same shirt and pants as the pve setup but just switch the enchants from crit/armor pen to recovery & vice versa.
The enchantment I use on my weapon is a Lesser Plague Fire since I’m broke and also since I can hit every mob with KV, Guarded Assault so holding agro isn’t a problem and in my armor I used a negations because I firmly believe it is more important for a GF to stay alive instead of be able to come back to life as we shouldn’t be dying anyways.
My Artifacts are nothing special just a Waters, Blood Crystal, and Lantern all blue since I cant afford to make them epic yet.
Now on to the powers and feats I use
First I would like to say I love every single GF power except Ferocious Reaction and Enduring Warrior since they are both borderline useless.
First I will do my feats since they are relatively simple.
Heroic Feats
Strength Focus 3/3 - Good DPS feat
Toughness 3/3 - 9% HP is good to help me survive
Armor Specialization 3/3 - Good survivability
Action Surge 3/5 - Going to block a decent amount but I would prefer to be attacking.
Powerful Attack- 5/5 - 10% Dmg bonus to At-will/Encounters? Yes
Pin Down 3/3 - More control
Weapon Mastery 3/3 - 3% More crit chance is great
Conqueror Tree
Improved Vigor 5/5 - I good way to get a daily off if I’m getting melted in pvp which could save me.
Reinforced Surge 5/5 - Good stun and prone and does more dmg so yes.
Staggering Challenge 5/5 - This makes Griffons Wrath scary and makes 1 shot builds easier.
Tactical Superiority 5/5 - 15% dps increase 24/7... YES!
Menacing Impact 5/5 - Terrifying Impact is very strong for pvp and this only makes it stronger.
Reckless Attacker 1/1 - Let someone hit you 5 times first then hit then and watch them drop real fast.
Tactician Tree
Crushing Pin 5/5 - 10% Increased dmg to controlled enemies for EVERYONE hitting it. Very good.
Boons
800 HP, 200 Crit, 200 Armor Pen, 200 life steal, and eventually 1 in the incoming healing, 1 in control strength, and 1 in crit severity.
Now for my powers I use almost everything but Ill give my most often used setups.
Pve trash - Frontline, ITF, Lunging Strike/Bull Charge. Class features are Trample the Fallen and Combat Superiority. At-wills Crushing Surge and Threatening Rush. Dailies are Terrifying Impact and Fighters Recovery.
Pve Boss - KV, Iron warrior, enforced threat. Class features Shield talent and Guarded Assault. At-wills are Threatening Rush and Tide of Iron. Dailies are Terrifying Impact and Fighters Recovery.
Note: I use a reflect build in pve bosses so Fighters Recovery + Guarded Assault will sustain me with little strain on a healer.
I don’t have a set pvp setup but I do have a few builds that I use often ( I will Always use Crushing Surge, Threatening Rush, Combat Superiority and Trample the Fallen. )
Pvp setup 1 - Knee Breaker, Frontline Bull Charge. Dailies - Villains Menace and Terrifying Impact. This Is good for fighting control heavy teams and allows me to control them while having some cc immunity even though Villains Menace doesn’t always work.
Pvp setup 2 - Knights Challenge, Frontline, Anvil of Doom. Dailies Terrifying Impact and SoS. This is the 1 shot build and it allows me to hit people for 25k+ with 1 hit of my anvil or terrifying impact plus if I miss I have SoS as a security skill incase they hit me back.
Pvp Setup 3 - Griffons Wrath, Frontline, Bull Charge. Dailies Indomitable Strength/Terrifying Impact and Villains Menace. If I want to stun someone’s brains out and keep them pinned down I use this.
Pvp Setup 4 - Lunging Strike, Frontline, Anvil of Doom/Bull Charge. Dailies are Villains Menace and Terrifying Impact. If I need to chase people down then melt them or catch a flanker before they get to our home node.
Now you may have noticed I recommend Terrifying Impact a lot but there is a very good reason to that. It is one of the most useful dailies that we have because it IGNORES CC IMMUNITY in pvp. If a GWF rushes me in unstoppable while I have a Terrifying Impact he’s getting proned and going to sit there wondering what happened. If a TR goes into ITC I don’t care because I can still prone him and chose to rush him and damage him or run away. it’s a very underrated skill and with proper use becomes the GFs trump Card along with Crescendo if you go SM.
I will explain how I fight certain classes and how I beat them.
TR - Very ridiculous class in terms of control but they are squishy if you catch them so set them up by stunning them with a frontline while they are in stealth since they most likely will be in ITC when not invisible. Once you catch them use knee breaker to prevent their stealth meter from filling and then Bull Charge to prone them out so they take full damage. Then you can hit them with a Terrifying Impact for good damage and to reset the prone effect. Once you finish the rotation hit them with Crushing Surge a few times and they should die and be coming back with their soul forged. Just bait out their attack or if they run find a new target since chasing them is almost impossible since their roll/run speed.
GWF - They are nothing without their Unstoppable so feel free to prone them as soon as the fight initiates since they cant defend themselves from it then put some damage in with Crushing Surge. Once they stand up block as they will probably try to use unstoppable and rush you and spam encounters. Once they run out of determination they are again sitting ducks so just hit them with your full rotation and they should go down easy. This fight is all about kiting the GWF.
HR - The scariest class for me as a GF to fight since if they catch you with their roots you’re going to get hurt bad. Best way to fight them is use a frontline to get rid of their foxes cunning then bull charge them to make them prone then put as much damage as you can on them before they stand then repeat. Terrifying Impact/Villains Menace makes this fight easier so if you have them chances are you can win. Just remember to walk backwards with your shield up since they cant root through the block or hurt you that bad unless they are behind you. If he’s squishy use Villains menace and just destroy them with crushing surges up close. If he isn’t then you will need Terrifying Impact to make him squishy.
CW - A very annoying class to fight but not as bad for GFs. The best way to handle they guys is to threatening rush them then block. After a few times they will run out of dodges and will have to take the onslaught your about to give them. My choices would be Frontline them then hit him with either griffons wrath or knee breaker then bull charge them, threatening rush and crushing surge them till they stand. They should take very hard damage or have died. If they use shield use griffons wrath earlier to whittle it down. Other than that block all their skills and you should win.
SW - Very easy fight. Just block, stun, hit, block, stun, hit, and boom easy win. One tip to make it faster is don’t hit them in shadow slip. It gives them CC immunity wait till they run normally then melt them.
DC - Nearly impossible fight because they can soak up tons of damage. For this I recommend Knights Challenge, Bull Charge and Anvil. Start by using Knights Challenge then start timing your Bull Charge to knock them out of their circle. Once they are out hit them with a Terrifying Impact so they take full damage and finish with a Anvil. If this doesn’t work then find a new enemy since this DC is just a beast and you wont kill him with out help.
GF - Very strategic. Like a game of chess you need to lure him into a mistake then capitalize on it. Start by dropping your shield and picking it up to get him to use an encounter. If you block it then your already ahead. Movement is key in this fight and with the profound Conq set + Darks you can move very quick. Stay close to him until you see and opening to run behind him then bull charge him to open his defenses. At this point you can do whatever you want but I would use frontline and griffons wrath to keep him stunned and taking my damage as long as possible and terrifying impact him after the bull charge to reset the prone. In this fight the smarter player wins 10/10
Most important part is to use your mark. That one simple skill gives an amazing amount of DR ignore and will help you put the hurt on most enemies. Always do it at the beginning of a fight for max dps.
Well that’s about it if you have any questions or want to inspect my GF feel free to message me My GT is “Chubba Slays”.
