Mini Missions.

Every time I open the Admiralty - or Duty Officers - Missions tab I get somewhat inspired by the missions I am sending my ships on.

- Transport Diplomatic Delegates
- Uncover Source of Unknown Signal
- Infiltrate the Orion Syndicate

and so on. My proposal is that we get the option, for some of these missions at least, for manually completing them for a better chance at a critical success.

The missions should be:
* Short - 10 to 20 minutes tops.
* Admiralty missions would be completed using the ship(s) that are sent on the mission, using a preconfigured loadout if the player doesn't have the ship ready.
* Potentially built using community submitted foundry content.

This would:
* Give players in a hurry access to a lot of quick content that's fun to do using a familiar UI.
* Not require any major engine rework as its built using things STO already does.
* Give Foundry players a creative outlet to develop many mini scenarios that complete quickly.
* Drive sales of ships, zen and dil for all those people wanting to have many ships ready to perform missions.

Mini missions would enhance the game. I'd play them.

I like the idea in principal but Foundry Submissions would be low quality or too exploitable.

Meh. Can't see I'd bother with it.

So you wan to mix the patrol missions, foundry and admiralty?

In my opinion the foundry and admiralty should remain seperate, but if you're looking for fast 10-20 minute missons:

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

All that they really need to do is just add these as optional missions in the system they already have. Just put it under a heading for Admiralty, and let you select the ship you wish to take. But, keep in mind that some of these missions are not really fighting missions. But, STO is a heavily fighting focused game. So they would have to probably rewrite a lot of the missions to fit with the fighting focused gameplay, or players might not play them. And that would make it a waste of time.

What I would prefer is they put NPCs in maps that have side quest that have their own stories you can do if you want. And they give missions rewards that are worth the side quest.

The fact is that mini-missions already exist in the form of patrols and there's a plethora of Foundry missions that already meet these ideas.

But once again, you forget on what being an Admiral entails, which means sending out fleets of ships for which you will not participate on those missions. You can already participate otherwise on what is already in-game.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

It is, it's a duplicate of this thread.

It didn't get much support then, and I don't expect that much will change this time.
