Tier 6 Romulan Dreadnought Concept

I am a huge Scimitar fan, ever since Nemesis I always wanted to play a Star Trek game with the Scimitar in it and eventually my dreams were answered, after playing STO for about a year they finally released the beast and I have not looked back ever since.

With word of the next expansion also came word that there might be a level increase from 50 to 60 and with the new rank comes new ships, bigger ships, better ships. The thought of a possible update on the Scimitar was too much for me to just sit back and wait so I decided to take it upon myself to go nuts and create what I personally would think an updated "retrofit" of the Scimitar would look like and how it would function for a tier 6 beast.

I present to you the Kilij, a pure tactical death machine. I also added a few fun details like weapon layouts, consoles and toying with the idea of a secondary core that's designed to be purely a tactical (maybe even engineering and science versions too) to augment tactical abilities and weaponry, similar to the secondary deflector array on science ships.

Anyway take a look, I intend to update it with front, top, and rear views at a later date.

Damn fine concept art, that's for sure. That actually manages to look like Romulans may have helped design it, unlike the Scimitar.

Speaking to its proposed stats, LOLOLOLOLOL. Utterly ridiculous.

I can't figure out what the (admittedly kinda cool-looking) can openers on the front are for, and tacking on another set of wing-mounted weapon pods may have been a bit much, but otherwise, it's a decent-looking ship that looks exactly as advertised - like a Scimi retrofit.

I'd love to see you mock up some more traditional Romulan concepts, maybe some 2409-style Starfleet ships or Bortasqu'-style Klingon ships. Just leave the mechanics to Cryptic.

Your work is amazing, no doubt there. Good concepts and presentation.
As for the ship itself, it does not look romulan to me. I like the design, but I just don't se it as romulan.

Beautiful concept art, really looks predatory stat wise..... waaay over the top unless they give us a Nightmare difficulty level where 13 consoles and 17 boff abilities were required to complete missions which i don't see happening anytime soon but keep up the great concepts.

P.S. disregarding the stats I'd buy it on looks alone

I love it. It's a perfect blend of 2410 Romulan technology, and Tal Shiar technology seen on the Khnial and the Narada.

The stats are way over-the-top, but it's very sleek and bladey-looking.

I have two things to say. Well, more than two...

1. i dont like the look, but then i think the scimitar is ugly too. I dont mind mean looking ships, but i prefer smooth lines and this just doesnt have it.

2. the art itself is awesome! did you do this youself?

3. if you did do this yourself would you mind working on my ship idea? its not as broken as yours but i still think it is a good one.

Good artwork, but not a good idea for the stats to go with it. I hope if level increases from 50-60 t5 ships will still be the top tier of ships or we will have lots of angry players.

There are a couple of devs that originally were just forum posters like Borticus and ThomastheCrypticCat. So it is possible to get a job with Cryptic by sending your portfolio or at least get your designs in STO for some recognition.

I would definitely buy that from the Z-Store if it was released as a Tal'Shiar ship. PWE needs to hire you for the STO team.

AH Hell, give him his ship. Why not. Make it 1 per Fleet and only the Fleet leader can fly one. And only in a 10 vs 10 Fleet battle. It could be to the Romulans what the Enterprise is to Fed. Make it so.


Oh, and Btw. Do something like that for a teir 6 BOP. I wanna see it.

Why didnt you design the odysee? May be it would look like something then... Something other then the ugly whale it is...

Although I'm not sure I like the amount of spikes that thing has.... I like it when ship parts look like something that at least could have a use. But it's still very well done.

That said: no t6. Ever.

Thats a great concept art you made there.

Tier 6 is probably not going to happen and I really hope it does not or the grind starts all over again... but that ship is a beauty.

Thanks for the feedback, and yeah the stats are wayyyy ott just messing about with a possible ultra beast but not actually balanced in the slightest

With regards to the design I designed it as if the Tal-Shiar (or at least parts of them) joined with the Remans, and Romulans to create a new flagship that would be the icon of their new joint empire, so it's not 100% Romulan design.

As for more ships I might design a new Fed ship and see where that goes.

It looks like the demonchild of the Narada (*draws the Starfleet emblem on his chest to ward of J.J Trek*) and the Scimitar. In the best way though. But that console.. Whew. It's t6 and all but 500 shield penetrating damage per hit for 10 seconds is just OP. Imagine it with fire at will or rapid fire cannons (even though you'd never put cannons on a cruiser). Also you can have it on without using up a console slot.
