What is the purpose of Profession XP for Level 25 tasks?

For tasks completed at maximum level, essentially it's just thrown away. They should instead offer comparable XP toward player progression or some other reward when these tasks are completed.

Probably for when or if they ever add more levels to professions would be my guess.

There is no purpose. They just don't bother to put a condition in the programming to get rid of it or change it.
Yes, they are just thrown away and it is pretty obvious they are.

I've often wondered that. The excuse that it's for 'future expansion"is bogus. If they had plans for future upgrades - you add the extra XP when the upgrade is live, not months or years before.

Now, it's literally just an insult to players - "Hey, here's the stuff you made - oh and btdubs, here's some utterly useless Profession XP thrown in because...we have no idea."

Rickcase, we had once lvl 20 as cap, then 25th came and 'no such thing as free lunches'.
On my main got everything 25 (alchemy though, already reported) and ice o'course.
Now back to leadership, that was a tough one, and all that xp just a waste.
Mimicking mentioned that 'professions is on the list', but no time frames.
Shame really, 1 extra silver or 1000 xp to character could be at least something.

The same purpose as profession XP on the level 20 tasks back when that was the profession cap, silly.

If and/or when they raise the profession caps, (dear "deity of choice" help us) then they could add the necessary profession XP.
