Performance is absolutely horrible as of yesterday. Horrible lag. I had my first crash in months and other have as well. Rubberbanding and lag effecting particle mission as well.
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the latest launcher as recommended if running into these types of issues, from the following thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=505501 This didn't help. I got the following errors.log... 140321 20:20:54 1 [1]: Launcher PCL Error The connection was idle for…
I appreciate you taking the time to input so many suggestions (and there are a lot of them). The OP created is a general guide that works well for most people with most builds. Over time and changes in the game, some people find different things that may allow them to get out a bit more DPS when parsed, however some of…
Please be sure to look at the skill tree on some of the basic builds. Also please be sure to look at the bonuses on some of the basic gear. Those can make a big difference for you as you're leveling up. Please go to the link below, enter your current build/skill information, then save and share here. I'd be happy to make…
Such beliefs often make sense to newcomers, but such builds are inefficient. Among experienced players, it is correctly accepted that cannons and turrets are to be used for maximum damage on an escort. The only occasional argument is A - what is better, dual cannons vs dual heavy cannons. (DHC's slightly better but DC's…
Scratch that. I think I'm just going to go with the cheap/basic builds as the idea/premise really stays the same. With the fleet gear, you're really just getting better versions of the basic gear. Not to mention, they keep coming out with new weapon types and console types, so I will make mention of those in the OP, but…
Yeah I could do that, it would be pretty time consuming though. I think I will just do the advanced ones, as I explained the recommended gear for basic/cost-effective builds with basic gear in the thread.
Yeah, I definitely need ot update the ship builds. I haven't updated those in quite some time. I've been considering how I should do them. Either with the basic consoles as most people who need the advice are some of the newer players, or if I should use the reputation/STF and fleet consoles/weapons in the builds as those…
The drain/fire-cycle stuff is no longer an issue from what I understand. It was at one point some time ago but the issue was resolved with one of the patches.
Over time they have been made better. They used to have 1/2dps vs dual cannons due to 2x firing arc. Their damage has been increased fairly significantly. You're always going to have to pay for that 180 firing arc. I see how this could be more useful for slower turning ships. Most escorts however, will have no problem with…
I added some information at the end regarding some of the fleet consoles and gear available. With the Obelisk 2-pc set and its +10% AP bonus, it's hard not to go with AntiProton weapons, especially with the Embassy consoles that give you the plasma proc with them. While many starting off, will have to settle on the Voth AP…
I would have to check, but it seemed to me that those consoles were best suited for those that weren't using plasma weapons, as it would give people the plasma proic without actually using them. For example, I am using the shield emitter console on my escort that is using Borg Anti-Proton weapons. This gives me an…
Well to be fair, I myself have never received an "AFK" message in the chat box when I wasn't actually AFK. So I imagine cryptic has a decent AFK detection system and because of the penalty I imagine they're pretty lenient with it. It would make sense to me that you receive this penalty if you sit somewhere and don't move…
Yeah, I tested this as well and can confirm that the 10% bonus is applied after the weapon power adjustment. This can make a pretty big difference. Also... With the flood of cheap antiproton weapons from the voth lockbox and the extreme ease of getting the 2-pc obelisk set, it's hard to not recommend it, especially for…
It has been suggested that the Obelisk set 10% Antiproton damage boost is applied after the weapon power boost is factored in. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case?
Part of it is personal preference. There has been discussion of improved damage using APB3/CSV1 as opposed CSV3 and APB1. This is the case in STF's as you have multiple people attacking that debuffed target. For maximum damage, I am big on AOE (hence the SV3 and TS3). I think to potentially have the best of both worlds, it…
This build isn't doing a whole lot for you. You really should read the OP carefully. I didn't find the dominion set particularly useful. It has some power bonuses and an occasional antiproton sweep, but other than that, it's not helping you at all. The 2-pc bonus gives bonus power to polarons which you're not using. Until…
I actually requested that Attilio add the Obelisk items to the skil planner on Thursday. It looks liek her just added them this morning. I'll be doing some ship build updates based on that.
Cannons are more effective in general than beams. Their only weakness is their limited firing arc. This is why escorts and any ship with a decent turn rate should use dual/dual heavy cannons with turrets in the rear. This coupled with rapid fire and scatter colley makes for a high DPS build. See this thread for a lot of…
Assuming people all have access to those consoles. Not to mention, you have to complete a decent amount of the romulan reputation process to get the 2-pc set. It's reallyonly worth it to stick with plasma if you have the romulan plasma weapons, which also takes quite a bit of grinding. With he obelisk set, you just have to…
I made changes to the OP. The addition of the Ancient Obelisk Technology Set changes things a bit. This changes my preferred weapon type from Romulan Plasma to AntiProton. The dual-proc and the 7.6% damage bonus from the Romulan set gave the Romulan plasma Weapons an edge for a while. Now the Ancient Obelisk Technology set…
