Final Update: so i decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling fresh, and the download is actually stable and not studdery at all. If you have fast internet but your getting trapped in a loop, my uninstall/reinstall went faster than going through this looping process even once. 30 minutes going through the loop each time…
Update: With the priority still set to High in taskmanager it made it to 40.7 MB remaining before showing the failed to connect error. So allocating more resources to try and brute force your way through with maximum firepower gets it farther though still not quite all the way.
So, for now, after going through the loop, and the crash where i have to start looping over again, and so on and so forth, I have been able to get it to go through more loops by going into the task manager and giving StarTrekOnline.exe a priority level of High. Where before it always went through loops for about 7 minutes…
My Launcher update doesnt do the whole looping opening new threads thing, it just slowly works its way down to having like 85.5 MB left before it can load the launcher before i get a popup saying that there was no way to establish a connection to the update server and to try again later. I try later and same thing. Starts…
So, an update, since I realize I havent been posting on this thread for a while. The combat behavior of my Vanguard Jem'Hadar appears to be something character specific. I switched from the legendary assault ship and over to a Titan class so as to get him the Another Enterprise Trait so I can, with the new transponder,…
I understand your struggles there. Only, rather than targeting the enemy against which you can deal the most damage to in that instant, it targets whoever is closest to you on screen that at least one mounted weapon can hit(if its the fire button you used to select a target. Pressing tab, i think goes from center of screen…
That, I did not know, however, after looking through my settings on that, they are all at their default behaviors. Which is to say, My weapons target the closest enemy I am looking at. If they are off screen, no shooty. Except for this one Jem Hadar that flies the Legendary bug ship.
Between what you were saying, and how someone else referred to how Georgiou said that the Shenzhou was already old when Burnham came aboard for the first time, there is also something else to consider. Well two things. Discovery and Glenn might not have been "newer" than the 1701 Enterprise. Discovery and Glenn were refit…
Perhaps NAR stands for "Not A Registry" Anyway, this whole thing was just a random thought i had that i thought might spark some debate among trek fans. Not, REGISTRY NUMBERS ARE LIKE POINTS ON WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY!!!! THEY DON'T MATTER! Anyway, the reason i think that they do, sometimes anyway, is that depending on who…
The same could be said for the writers just pulling numbers out of their collective backsides and trying to explain in universe why this ship or that ship had this non-sensical number on its hull. A great example is the USS Defiant. The second Defiant class one. She had the same number as the original. NX-74205, instead of…
That is also a canonically explainable possibility. When she got that ship, she was a fleet admiral at the time. There are also explanations even in the prime universe why registries go out of sequence. Such as making it seem as though starfleet has fewer ships than they really do which is why most ships of the Akira,…
Well, many of my characters have the default number of inventoy slots for silver accounts. Transferring an entire loadout into inventory when switching would fill up almost half of it on those toons.
But the downside is that when you switch loadouts, the one being switched away from gets transferred to your inventory. On toons that have not had their inventory space upgraded, and they are changing the loadout on a Tier 6 fleet battle cruiser, like the Gagarin, that is 27 inventory slots that are about to get filled…
I know that there is an expansive list of reasons for people to quit. But keep in mind: the idea is not to punish those who leave, since clearly they are fine with taking a character specific ban. The idea is to assist those who are on the other end of the equation. Those who have to finish short handed. Yes, there are…
They removed the level requirement. Now they are mission gated. Also, said missions no longer have level restrictions. Thus what a gold farmer does is this. They go into the quest log and skip over all the missions that they can. Then they take the ones about partcipating in a TFO. Once that mission is taken all associated…
That's all well and fine, but what about those who have to leave because life intervened. I've been called into work, myself, among other things. Someone who gets called away from their computer by a case of real life intervention should not get put into that bad player group. Additionally there are those to whom that sort…
I've seen a lot of valid points presented so far. Indeed the feedback and discussion has given me what I need to refine the idea of a reinforcement system. So, How's this: And I am going to try to have the interactions with the computer elements be as immersive as possible. For starters we will use a TFO a lot of people…
A punishing system is one thing and that is a good start. now we just need a way where by when a player is confirmed to have left by their own choice, a different player can be put in in their place. The only issue i see is CaptainCelestial's concerns. What if a person leaves for one of the legitimate reasons he mentioned.…
Be that as it may, the only reason I can see for not having a system to reinforce a short handed team that is shorthanded by a team mate willfully leaving, for what ever the reason was, is if your part of the crowd that likes TRIBBLE over players and wants them to remain screwed over. I know we cant fully solve the…
There are some who would say that maybe they should not have queued then. But, I am not one of those. No system is perfect. And I have been in each and everyone of those situations you described. I was in ISE once(when normal and elite were the only two difficulties) and the power went out. Not because of a lightning storm…
Also, a situationally triggered vote to kick system would be beneficial. You see, in the TFO where your on the ground fighting the borg queen, each stage is 100% dependant on ALL players reaching the next area before being allowed to attempt the objective. Once i had a run where one of the players was one of those gold…
That is indeed something the system would have to account for. Now in the best case scenario, you put your password back into the title screen, select the toon you were on and pick up where you left off. Worst case, you do the step i just mentioned, but the game fails to load the toon select screen. So you have to…
I can see your point as well, but at the same time, with the current rules, their frustration, and then leaving, often results in me having to take a one hour penalty or spend 2 hours trying to complete the TFO. The main reason this is a frustration for me is I am trying to get to 10 million refined dilithium as part of…
That sounds like something where reinforcing is the very theme of the mission. Could be interesting if done that way. Another thing to though i have been pulled into queues that were already half way through. It seems to be a random thing though. It really needs to be an full blown mechanic though. I mean, some of these…
Your idea of selecting rather someone wants to volunteer for a potentially doomed TFO is a good idea. That way they know what they are getting into. Don't know about the NPC's thing though. NPC's dont ahve much in the way of tactical know how. Like in Gravity Kills, they wont necessarily know that Tzenkethi ship's forward…
Also, the discovery weapons are lockbox, but if you play a discovery TFO, you may find that on occasion you will get discovery style phaser and disruptor space weapons. These are NOT the sensor, integrity, targeting linked versions. They are literally the "existed since the game origianlly launched" phasers with a…
True, but what i was getting at is that for all the other weapons there are normal craftable versions, and there are the lock box versions. for instance, the Kelvin lockbox phasers have special properties aside from their appearance. Craftable Kelvin Phasers would simply be a reskin of the normal modern phasers. The idea…
