I prefer to look at the mirror universe as simply an alternate history, with plenty of its own unique events and history that we just haven't seen yet because it's not relevant to the main characters of the series. And I hope Sela doesn't come back at all, personally. She was fun for a while, but she's starting to feel…
I feel like they're trying to emphasize the wonder -- and terror -- of probing the unknown, hence the name (Discovery) and the flashy visuals. The changing aesthetics are a bit jarring, but I'm intrigued enough by the premise to let it slide. Will reserve judgement until we know more.
One idea I've been toying with for a mission is that the Husnock were originally a benevolent hive mind species, but got possessed and corrupted by Redjac (from TOS "Wolf in the Fold"). They became xenocidal conquerors as a result, hence their characterization as "a species of hideous intelligence who knew only aggression…
People are literally flying around in Undine bioships and the Enterprise-J, and you're worried about plausibility? When it comes to ships, the game jumped the shark on common sense long ago. I say bring on the T6 revamps at this point. The more the merrier. But keep them in the C-store, so we can use them on multiple…
I've been playing a lot of Stellaris. About halfway through building a Dyson Sphere that will sustain my fleets long enough to conquer the galaxy and purge all alien life. >:D
ENT referred to it as a 20th century conflict several times. And the DS9 writers admitted that Admiral Ross' "two hundred years ago" line was a mistake on their part.
Hopefully they'll take the opportunity to fix a few of the lingering bugs that have haunted the Foundry since the lighting update. Unlikely, but still...
The Kentari seem to be roughly on par with the UN and MCR from The Expanse. In that series humanity has advanced enough to build interplanetary spaceships armed with kinetic weapons, and colonized several worlds in their solar system, but they're still recovering from damage done to their environment in their industrial…
For what it's worth, "First Contact" (the TNG episode, not the movie) had a very similar concept to this mission, with a progressive government clashing with traditionalists who didn't like change. In that case the government decided to delay joining the galactic community until they'd gotten their internal problems sorted…
I enjoyed it overall. The maps were great as always and I thought the themes were heavy-handed but appropriate. But I agree they definitely did not make as big a deal about the destruction of the moon as they should have, especially since it's apparently the breadbasket of the Kentauri. And restoring it literally five…
It wouldn't be the first time they introduce something like that in a blog, only to forget about it later. Does anyone remember that Na'kuhl who teamed up with Khan's augments? I'm still waiting for a follow-up on that.
I really hope the Hur'q don't turn out to be another Iconian servitor race. Make them unique somehow. A follow-up to that Na'kuhl who joined Kahn's augments would be interesting, although I'm not really sure how that would play out in a mission. And I'm kind of sick of time travel anyway. I'm sure Leeta and the Terran…
Unfortunately, no. Custom assets aren't loaded until the mission has been accepted, so you have to use a pre-existing one. You can, however, work around it by using a Boff instead, saying something like "We're receiving a transmission from Alexander, putting in on screen" and then having a popup dialogue with Alexander.
I'd love to see the Fek'Ihri story revamped and resolved, but not as a queue/battlezone. It should be a mission chain so that people who prefer single-player (like myself) can experience the story without having to PUG. A battlezone that comes alongside that, though, would be awesome.
