There is a "skip intro" option on Netflix. ;) I'd be happy with the Intrepid-, Freedom-, and Ganges-classes as playable (or at least NPC) ships. And maybe some more Enterprise-era assets for the Foundry. Actually, an Agents of Yesterday-esque faction would be cool. Maybe a prelude to the Earth-Romulan War...
They used to have it on the website (along with an in-universe overview of all the major factions), but took it all down because "the wiki does that job for us". I'm still peeved about that; the lore was what brought me into STO in the first place. There is the daily event at Starfleet Academy, but that's in bits and…
I've been away from STO for a few months, but from this point forward I'm gonna spend as much time as I can in the Foundry. Maybe I can finally finish that series I'd been working on. Cryptic, the Foundry deserves so much better than it gets. I'm begging you, please do not let this wonderful feature fall into total…
I always thought the Discovery herself looked very TOS-ey, at least on the outside. A crowd shot with her and a Connie would look fine together. The interiors are another matter, but it's not unheard of for those things to change in a relatively short time.
Come to think of it, they're going to have to revamp some of the Agents of Yesterday stuff in light of the changes to lore. Namely, the Klingons getting cloaking technology from Future Guy and Starfleet having no knowledge of it until Caleb IV. I wouldn't mind getting access to the Crossfield, Shepard, and…
So... Klingons, Romulans, Borg, Cardassians, Ferengi, and others? Hell, if there was a 99% chance the mycelium network could get Voyager home, don't you think Janeway would have tried it? Wouldn't it have been reintroduced during the Dominion War out of desparation? The dangers would have to be a lot worse than that for…
I expect that the problems with the spore drive will have to prove insurmountable, otherwise we would have seen other races using that technology in the future series. Either the mycelium network is destroyed/cut off forever, or it has a side effect so dangerous that no sane person would even consider using it again. It…
I think the whole Tovan Khev fiasco really ruined a lot of potential for the game. Okay, maybe he could have been implemented a little better, but the idea of having a crew of Boffs who actually have backstories and relationships and voice acting was a great one, and I think it's what this game needs to move forward.…
I certainly hope they don't go the Section 31 route. Those guys are overused and overpowered, and a secret organization of antiheroes is a lot less interesting than a genuine hero who's forced to take extreme action out of desperation.
I honestly think what STO needs in order for romance -- hell, any kind of character development -- to work is a complete overhaul of dialogue and graphics. The current system is very impersonal: the character's portrait appears in a dialogue window, they monologue for thirty seconds, and the conversation doesn't proceed…
There were only a handful of bugs on the planet. The moon, on the other hand, was composed 55% of those crystals. A "nuke" was the only option there. Alternatively, they may have only had one torpedo and had to resort to conventional weapons for the planet itself.
I have two theories about the bugs. 1) The bugs have a collective consciousness and their hive mind grows more intelligent with every bug. If enough of them exist they get smart enough to build ships and wage a genuine war with the rest of the galaxy. Hence the Tzenkethi desperation to destroy them before they get too…
The bugs were a little underwhelming, but I can see why the Tzenkethi are afraid of them. If Dranuur's moon was composed 55% of those crystals, the bugs must be incredibly common in the quadrant. A swarm of trillions of them would be alarming, to say the least. A chance to ask the Tzenkethi captain about the bugs would…
There were thing I liked and disliked about the show. Overall, I enjoyed it and will keep watching. Be interesting to see where the story and the characters go after this. I wonder if the "pale" Klingon, Voq, is a call-forward to the Albino from "Blood Oath".
I'll second the Tak Tak and Bynars, and add pretty much all the generic humanoids from TOS and TNG. Also the Gorgon from "And the Children Shall Lead". I wouldn't mind never seeing the Son'a and the Ba'ku again, although of course the former are already in STO.
Officially, it's right on the border. The devs chose to put it in the Beta Quadrant because that's where all the early Klingon and Romulan missions are set.
I liked it, but definitely was a bit too short. And some more info on the Nexus and what StarFace was doing there would have been appreciated. I do like the concept of the Nexus being used as a prison. Perhaps the "paradise" thing is just a defense to keep unwanted people from breaking prisoners out: who cares about…
I hate building maps in the Foundry because the top-down 2-D interface with no layers is a pain in the a** to work with. I tend to use premades whenever possible. Writing dialogue, on the other hand... that's something I never get tired of.
I definitely think this should have been kept secret until the mission was released, it would have been an incredible surprise. But I'm certainly excited by this news!
I don't recall any line to that effect. They signed the treaty and Odo went back to the Gamma Quadrant, but that was the last we heard of the Dominion.
