  • *digs through transcript of "The Enemy"* TOMALAK [on viewscreen]: You forced the situation. I will not leave without him. PICARD: He's dead. TOMALAK [on viewscreen]: Then he is but the first to fall, Picard. (Transmission ends) WORF: The Romulan ship is routing power to its forward disruptor array. PICARD: All shields to…
  • I think you mean the "Institute of Cosmology":) http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Orion_Institute_of_Cosmology
  • Or in the words of General Chang "On a warship EVERYTHING is a weapon". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqVlSNP1jEI#t=36m39s and as we know Klingon ships are warships no matter whether they're tactial, engineering or science focused.
  • I can't say yes or not to that with absolut certainty. The only instances in season 3 where I can remember Klingon and Romulan referrred to they kept it unclear. They were only called "weapons" or "energy weapons" there. But hey no instances of Klingon or Romulan phasers that's already a good thing.:) The first time I know…
  • That's because until about TNG season 4 Klingon and Romulan weapons were always referred to as "Phasers" onscreen. TOS "Errand of Mercy" Kirk says "Those are Klingon Phasers", Korris in TNG "Heart or Glory" supposedly used a Phaser according to Tasha Yar, the IKS Pagh in TNG "A Matter of Honor" was also armed with Phasers…
  • Since the KDF is being revamped anyways I hope this proposal will become part of that revamp as well.:)
  • Something we should however not overlook is of course that we know as a fact that the Klingons use scout ships to gather intelligence on regions beyond their territory. They did so in the 22nd century with the Raptors and kept doing so in the 24th century with an unseen (probably due to budget) scout class.…
  • Congratulations, you can copy material from Memory Beta.:D http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Orion you even included the bracketted source numbers. But here's the problem with this: it's the non-canon wiki so this stuff is nice but for the most part pretty useless.;)
  • Thank you. The thing is that "Klingons" is not the same as "KDF" (the KDF is what we see for the very most part after all), not even when we restrict ourselves to canon. Otherwise we could also say "all Americans act and think like Patton". That would probably be an...interesting society but far away from the truth.:P
  • Yup, the guy who designed Klingon Augments http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Antaak
  • We don't know for a fact how got what tech how and when in many, many cases. But it seems the assumption works like this: - tech x appears in Federation hands so it was invented by the Federation because they're smart and the fact that they invented this tech is proof that they're smart assumption becomes fact - tech y…
  • I think you just made the first part unneccessary by being polite and convincing yourself. And you stated the obvious for everyone to see.:P BTW, thank you for the kind words.:)
  • It's kinda hard to forget stuff that's not stated of hinted at in canon and comes from "Klingon Academy".
  • jellico1 considers the materials by FASA to be "Roddenberry's Canon" so I presume he's referring to the Four Years War and the D9 science cruiser.
  • :D Yes there were a LOT of morons in that lot...probably one of the worst was Klaa from Star Trek V who sailed about on the edge of the sol-system blowing up the pioneer probe because he was bored. But the thing is that pretty much all of them were the typical 2 dimensional guest characters. Those tend to be pretty dumb…
  • Hey, they're smart enough to know "a sharp blade is useless without a sharp eye".;) And it seems to me, no offense, that you equate "science" with exploration. But look at a lot of the powers science captains/officers have: scramble sensors, jam sensors, mask energy signatures, sensor scan...that's all electronic warfare…
  • Or take the T3 Raptor and make it a scout/signal itelligence version more akin to the Raptor we saw on "Enterprise".:P
  • That depends on how you define "science" in STO. Does it only mean peaceful exploration and tree-hugging? Or does it also cover the kind of "science" actual real-life militaries use? That would be "Signal Intelligence", "Electronic Intelligence" and of course electronic warfare. Like stealth (masking your signature),…
  • DSL Downstream: 51392 kBit/s DSL Upstream: 10048 kBit/s during some hours of the day it runs smoothly and some hours it rubberbands like a nightmare. I seriously doubt my connection is too slow.:)
  • But were they bought because they're battlecruisers or because they aren't plagued by bugs and paywalls and aren't lagging behind the competition due to inferior stats? Would you buy a car whose named is considered an acronym for "every day something else leaks"?
  • Thanks for the post, sarcasmdetector.:)
  • In that case Geko will insist the market is already saturated with the ships everyone bought.:P
  • WOW, after a frustrating day this is actually a bright light at the end of a tunnel...and it's not a photon torpedo.:D
  • That seems unlikely. The ship looks a lot more like it's a Raptor.
  • Not quite that as I recall. Cryptic worded it so badly that it didn't include any specifics that it was Fed-only so they had to give the Joined Trill to both factions to avoid false advertising claims. Personally I'd have prefered Augmented Klingons with the same traits (but named differenty).;) *EDIT here's how it was/is…
  • So it's Klingon "warrior blabla..." Well let's face it: Geko likes to hear himself say 'no' to stuff he does not like. We had the same thing with the T5 Ambassador which he "could not give" us but that ended up in the game anyway. *EDIT: thanks for the transcript, jaguarskx :) *
  • I've been here since headstart so I know very well what it looked like.:) It's also still possible to take a walk there in the Foundry...if and when it's up and running. Yes it's not as large nor does it have that many levels. But when you look at the buildings and the arrangement then the First City we had is very similar…
  • I've noticed the same thing. A good friend I play with and I tend to have certain times we just don't even bother to log in unless we do just DOFF a bit because it's a waste of time.
  • Thanks. Moar stuff to read.:D Sorry, but over the past 5 years I've seen so much BS posted on these forums I tend to err on the side of "source please!". I hope you don't mind.
  • Yes, the part about the Ferasans is there. And what about the Kzinti? If Cryptic can't use them where does the part about the Caitians being Kzinti that left their homeworld come from?
