matt: they won't - i disabled the anachronistic controls so they'll see me exactly as i am - and then i modified the program so everyone wouldn't end up either running away screaming like a loony or trying to stab or shoot me; they'll just think of me as a cynocephalus

and unless you're specifically going for a cartoony look, even character creations don't end up coming out great - i think there are mods to make parts a little more realistic, but there's only so much you can do when the whole game was built around a specific kind of style

(half the TRIBBLE in star trek didn't exist until it did - you shouldn't alter the details of any easter egg or cultural reference regardless of whether or not it fits the franchise it came from not that you should have been using an easter egg to begin with, but THAT pandora's box has already been opened)

i just hope it's something that FINALLY makes tetryon more than just usable (barely) but actually GOOD - they've already done polaron, plasma and antiproton, so tetryon is all that's left

we didn't have to last year either - they managed to get the new event system integrated despite them saying months earlier they didn't think they'd have enough time to do so

except the sheer unbelievable ridiculousness of the player being promoted from cadet to captain (or worse, from CIVILIAN to captain in the romulan case) and you can't claim extenuating circumstances in STO's case, because that was there in the KT movies too

i got it the other day because they're infinitely reclaimable in any amount you need, and i had a round of ship mastering to get through - and a set of purple mk 12 weapons is infinitely better than a set of shirty white mk 10 weapons
