Pilot Spec ability "Turn the Other Cheek", it reduces damage to opposite shield facings and shows up as those 3 curves on the shield facing so affected.
The names for the Fed versions are nice: another famous 19th century SF author, and the 3D equivalent of the Mobius strip. And great Scott those trait names.
They made all hangar pets immune to warp core breaches some time ago, as well as Layered Defenses to block some torpedo damage, so that problem has already been dealt with. They do still to make all hangar pets move with you consistently.
There is a button on the lower left of your character window while you have your active ship's tab selected that allows you to switch in at least social zones, including Sector Space.
There are specialization Boffs from the KDF Boff vendor for Intel, Command, and Pilot, the same as available for Feds. They might not show up until higher level though.

Oddly, I found that Sabotage also destroys the fire entities, but I only discovered this after the mission failed so I do not know if it counts. Sabotage does…
Echoes of Light is the first mission in this arc, and the only one so far. What you mean by 3 missions is probably how featured episode rewards come out one per week until the full set is available.
You can change aim to toggle for both shooter and RPG mode in the options under Controls. I enjoyed how the puzzle was a bunch of interactables like repairing the replicators on Drozana instead of one of the existing collection minigames.
I choose Attack Pattern: Alpha. I think that part of the purpose of this ship designing is to define a style for an original species that has no existing ships to base designs on.
