  • I'd rather be offered good stories and performances, and interesting situations and even moral dilemmas, instead of titillation. (Yes, I realize this puts me at odds with my avatar. Then again, I'm not a cheat or a shyster, nor a peddler in flesh and/or drugs, in RL.)
  • darthmeow504: With respect, I strongly doubt that Bill Thiess' (in)famous costumes for the female guest stars of TOS, or Gene having "fittings" and/or "auditions" of same in his office - or, in later eras, Jeri Ryan being brought on VOY to provide eye candy in a catsuit before they (and we) discovered damn, she can act…
  • Star Trek has always, always been about social commentary and moralizing delivered with all the subtlety of a brick to the head. Things got a little more nuanced once Gene was no longer in charge, but... War is Bad, Drugs are Bad, Pollution is Bad, Racism is Bad, Sexism is Hoo Check Out The Legs on That One. (The last is a…
  • That's stupid, IMO. HD space is cheap, voice acting is very much not (even if it's already been paid for). Considering how much they spent on those voiceovers, they should keep them in the game. (I actually suspect they're all still on my HD, just dummied out in the current version of the mission. So I don't even get the…
  • *laughs and laughs and laughs* Much of that code was, at this point, written almost ten years ago (not counting whatever they copied from City of Heroes), as a rush job after Perpetual fell on their faces, by people who are no longer with the company (like the guy who created the entire duty officer system), and who…
  • There's a bit of treknobabble after the Delta mission, "Capture the Flag", which says that now, the (new and improved?) parasites are somehow re-radiating all of that in infrared. Sounds great... except that, given the energy contained in multiple disruptor and phaser shots, those Vaads should literally be glowing red-hot,…
  • Fantastic work. Thank you.
  • Music for the latter part of this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dja4S3TQAE
  • As has been explained to me: Her son plays the game. They're not gonna kill "mom" on screen. The rest of us just have to deal with one of the worst cases of Joker Immunity since, well, you know.
  • Space Hitlerella did nothing wrong!
  • There's lots of multiplayer content which isn't PvP. All of the STFs, for starters. So, not wanting to engage in PvP is definitely not the same as that.
  • "I don't wanna be a statue."
  • (( Turns out you can get away with a lot when your well-being and future actions are of concern to powerful entities... :) ))
  • (( As someone who has occasionally wished for the ability to "save scum" in real life, the description of the reduplicator and its consequences is ... chilling. Well done. ))
  • I have a different question for our esteemed ship designer, one which I believe is much more within his purview and power to answer: Do you have any official dimensions for the new MMEs? Some of us live for these things, and while it's possible to estimate by putting them up against the Vesta/Aventine (which has published,…
  • They probably won't allow this because it greatly increases the chance that parts of the costume will clip into each other. Of course, to some people, that's considered a feature...
  • Command is my primary spec (on the character I'd be getting this for), but my interest instantly evaporated when I saw that the hybrid slot is the one I basically have to use for a science boff, rather than either of the tactical stations where, IMO, it would make more sense.
  • Seems to me that as soon as they've had their last contact with the natives and moved off to that island to spend the rest of their lives, they could be retrieved/recruited at any point without altering the timeline. If you want to be thorough and/or careful, dig some graves (possibly with replicated bones) and duplicate…
  • I was tempted by a Command Sovvy until I found out that the hybrid chair wasn't one of the Tacs (which makes more sense, at least to me), but takes the place of the Science position. So, uh... yeah, bring on the Intel, I guess. :pensive:
  • I liked it. Nice interweaving of various eras of canon.
  • With several bits of cosmic flotsam from the 22nd and 23rd centuries washing up near their starbase lately (including a Daedalus and one of the old K-class border outposts), my "main" captain decided to put on the indigo jumpsuit uniform of one of his ship's namesakes/predecessors: NX-04 Discovery, first official casualty…
  • @drakethewhite - Agreed. @danqueller - Great post. Also agreed. (Though at least the Origin bridge is actually, like, lit now.)
  • Options (the Gear icon around your map) Graphics tab Lights section, lower right side Click the radio button for Lighting 2.0 from On to Off You may need to click Apply That should do it.
  • Great examples, colonelmarik. I want to like the new lighting, but some of the maps really need a bit more work, IMO.
  • I just want to know, is this how the starbase is supposed to look? Because it seems a bit... much. EDIT: Oh, and I just checked - that's with the bloom turned down to about 50%.
  • ... except that those last two shots look like NOTHING we saw in TOS, which was almost always brightly lit (except when they wanted to put a dramatic spot across Kirk's eyes). There is, IMO, too much chiaroscuro (light-dark contrast) and bloom for its own sake in the new settings. They wanted to show off their new spot…
  • Fantastic video as always. And you know how I love my Sovereign. :)
  • Lots of players can't (because they don't know how, or whatever). Including me. I was in a similar bind to the OP, having already put my commodities into my own fleet's projects before I found out. My 11th hour solution, last night, was to buy some zen, convert it to dil, and kick off all the projects so my "pocket change"…

  • EDIT: Never mind, got it sorted - had to buy a little dil to get everything started (just in time).
  • I watched a lot of 1999 back when I was, honestly, too young to understand most of it. Loved the design of the Eagles, though - practical and timeless. I got this one Christmas, and played with it long after the stickers came off.
