  • You are correct. For something like this to happen indicates nothing but bad things. Most importantly it reveals that original code was poorly documented and further that it wasn't built for long term support and updates. If true for the Foundry, it likely true for the entire game.
  • No, one doesn't have to admit that. It's not modern day technology, so we have no idea how it works, it's limits, nor it's advantages. You're like a caveman asking where the rocks are kept.
  • No where that means anything.
  • The concept of Sink Cost is something to keep in mind when deciding to continue to spend money on a game. Along with the Time = Money. Make sure that you're getting the needed amount of fun for the invest- or bail. For now, STO has already reached the closed wallet point for me. I have everything in the game I want, and…
  • All games (except it seems the original EverQuest) die. This one will too, it's not a question of 'if' only one of 'when' and 'how'. Will this kill it? Don't know, frankly don't care that much. But saying that you can't maintain your game is not something you want to hear from a game company.
  • Yeah, as others as said- given the timing with the launch of the Endeavor system this looks like they are getting rid of the Foundry to force replay of specific Dev content. I hope that wasn't the case. The given reason is just about as bad, it sums up as "We can no longer afford to maintain the game we produced, so we're…
  • It's a wonderful ship, and if you can grab it for a billion (not 1.2 billion)- worth the EC. The model is acceptable although it needs to be updated. The worse item is that the markings are completely wrong, that however doesn't stop me from flying it.
  • They clearly sell well enough at the current prices to keep making new ships. I do agree that T5 ships should see a significant permanent cost reduction as they are overpriced compared to the T6 ships. But Cryptic doesn't see the need so I assume they are selling well enough too. for myself, I'm no longer a potential…
  • Nope. Not buying anything Discovery related, just not interested.
  • I had the same experience as the OP, gave up and came back during prime time and did manage to get them all done but it still took a good long while. What was the most insulting about it as that I had do 3 competitive TFOs for my medium, and do a single Borg TFO for my difficult one. Pure nonsense. I've also seen that the…
  • Given the value of the other things in the boxes, they are worth just about a billion. And have been right around that price point for a while now, I've seen them for under a billion in fact although this last time the price point went up a bit. Anyone paying 1.5 Billion for a ship has more money than sense.
  • Just IMO, but I think it will be in it's own box (likely promotion) due to the silly size increase it has over the TOS and TMP Connies. Basically the same as the JJprise.
  • Eye of the Beholder. I think it's closer to 80/20, but that 20% varies greatly between different people so it seems worse to any one person than it is. No, they didn't. But a backward cross-guard wouldn't have improved things over what they ended up with. It's not the direction, it's the lack of any significant extension…
  • I'm not seeing it in the promotions tab. No big deal, however as I can easily do without it.
  • Like most things in STO, it's much larger than the one that appears in the series. The one from the show makes little design sense, and in fact shares a lot of the same errors the Conan sword (1982 film) does. Two-handed hilt on too short, too wide and too heavy of a blade. Made even worse with a poorly designed…
  • Duh, of course it's only for the Anniversary event. I am getting too old for these games I guess. Poor Q, he looks so lonely and grounded. Poor thing doesn't know how to incite interest in anything but his birthday.
  • I'm in there with you, but I think we've seen the last of that until Discovery gets cancelled.
  • Underwhelming is the description for it. So far all Disco content has been at best underwhelming, easily the worse this game has provided me to date.
  • Passing on making one too. Not interested in the show or anything connected to it. There was one good thing about this release, the idea of the Walker Class growing with the character. That's how they should have handled the starter ships for all the factions.
  • From where I stand, this change is a bad idea. In effect this is limiting a popular game play option, rarely a good choice. But good choices in STO have been far and few between anyway. It's impact on me will be rather minor at this point. I don't do RA much, but recently used them extensively for the 100 queue unlock. It…
  • Personally, across two accounts there's two ships I'd like to trade to a different alt. But I agree, it will never happen. Way too much loss of money for Cryptic. So those alts will never get those ships, no way am I paying for something that expensive twice.
  • The article was very TNG focused and basically ignored all the other shows (especially DS9 and Enterprise). Each show has been in different in very significant ways from the others with only a thin overlay to give the illusion they exist in the same time line. Even a passing examination would reveal that couldn't…
  • 3rd season, I did leave that one out because I don't consider being anti-slavery that much of a statement in 1969. Slavery was ended in 1865 and The Civil Rights Acts was 5 years old by that time. It would be on par with a show saying murder is bad, like Wolf in the Fold. Something worth saying now and then. I don't care…
  • I wanted to comment on this specifically because I remember being very confused when it aired as it seemed so out of place with the rest of the first season shows. Especially when Sulu follows it up with the comment about spies being aboard. Spies? What? How did Sulu leap to that? Just because Romulans look like Vulcans?…
  • I lived during that time, saw the show as it first aired, and I remember them quite well and the state of the nation quite well thank you. What political statements it made were minor, and being made by other shows at the time as well. It was first and foremost timeless stories written by many of sci-fi writers of the…
  • I certainly won't pay them for anything TRIBBLE related, just as I didn't pay them anything for VIL (as I have zero interest in in anything from that release). But since I can fly my Connie. Their story line is completely unimportant compared to just flying around with that ship and has been since New Romulus. So no need…
  • I have a simple approach to fictional technology, I accept what's shown me as reasonable *even if I don't know why it's reasonable*. This lasts until a lack of consistency makes it impossible to believe an event happening when past history indicates it shouldn't. I sometimes have fun with making up how it could be…
  • What few anvilicious TOS episodes existed were 3rd season, when the show was in a very serious decline. Before that, the political and social statements were very main stream for the time, indeed far from progressive. They instead were morality plays about issues that have faced mankind from the beginning of western…
  • I'm amazed at sci-fi fans who can't seem to help thinking their own limited ideas of current technology must apply to sci-fi design. That mindset isn't new, but it seems be much more common these days. Let's apply some of the same anti-Connie views to something more real: Look at that piece of junk. Thin rotors that would…
