  • The system isn't designed to make the game more convenient for single players; it's designed to get 5/10/20 players (IE whatever the TFO needs) into a TFO. And remember - there are plenty of casuals (who outnumber the 'at least competent' <-- Read those who stick to one energy type and shot consoles appropriately; and…
  • It probably works to fill the queues with the most players already sitting in them first - get the 'closet to launching' going. Honestly the entire network backend of STO has always been cludgey and slow. Sometimes after clicking the accept on an RTO it's taken minutes to launch (way longer than can be accounted for by…
  • It's because the system doesn't just take 5 Random people and throw them into a TFO - someone in your group has PICKED that TFO and needs 4 others to join.
  • ^^^ Now..had you done that 15 years ago (in wave 1 Closed STO Beta - like me)... ;)
  • I liked the story of the episode, and the Voice acting was good from all involved. The above said, I will probably not run it on more than one or two alts because it is just TOO DAMN LONG for one contiguous episode. They could have DEFINITELY split it up into two or maybe even 3 episodes, and that would make it more…
  • Looks like the Giveaways continue: Jan, 23 - Free T6 Ship Coupon Per baddmoonrizin in the STO SHORT NEWS UPDATES thread @9:22 AM on 1/23:
  • They don't end the Buyout Option for that campaign until the next one (VI) starts. Which will be after the 14th Anniversary stuff is ended.
  • I do hope it ends with our ship being utterly destroyed; and we don't get a: "See...if only you had been there back then we would have won..." situation.
  • After this current year storyline is finished - STO will likely be in the same boat. Any new content they roll out in Q1 2024 was probably 'in the works'/'done' prior to EMBRACER enacting their cost cutting due to the financing deal that blew up in their face. Same for Neverwinter I would imagine.
  • Continued STO game maintenance as the last few months of patch notes show.
  • Roll back to one of the Beta clients circa October 2009...Used to happen a lot - yo0u also saw a lot of starships sitting on the ground back then too with this bug. It was server lag related as I recall.
  • probably Graphics updates for the next Event (whatever it is.) They usually patch in graphics when they're finished even if they're still testing other aspects of a feature change.
  • ^^^ Oh, it didn't. Down the road, the City Of Dev team (Paragon Studios which was made up of Cryptic Devs who stayed when they sold the CoH IP to NCSoft and went off to make Marvel Heroes which would ultimately become Champions Online when Microsoft bailed and Cryptic was bought by French Infogames/ATARI), wished they had…
  • Embracer would probably try to sell of Cryptic before resorting to closing it - but given the level of debt that Embracer was left with (because they spent money expecting the funding deal to go through, and when it didn't, they were left with $1+ Billion is debt); while yes, both STO and especially Neverwinter have been…
  • Wow...such sweeping updates...looks similar to Champions Online patch notes...
  • Unfortunately for Volition, the Saint's Row franchise wasn't really doing well recently either critically or financially and that's pretty much all the studio was developing when the shutdown hit. If you believe Cryptic press - both Star Trek Online and NeverWinter are doing quite well financially; and in STO's case…
  • Why not just rename "Re-Breathers" to "Life Support Belts" (canon now from TOS) - make them work in any hostile STO game environment; and then allow them to be slotted in the EVA character slot. Does it really take that much STO Dev time to alter a few entries/properties in their item database?
  • Get yourself a keyboard wrist-rest/pad. One for your mouse would be good too. That's helped me a lot over the years of using keyboards and mice in general' and I definitely notice the difference when at work at a keyboard or mouse that doesn't have either available
  • OR actually creating Dilithium Sinks in game that are WORTH IT for a majority of the Playerbase. The STO Devs had a habit of just coming up with Dil Sinks that few would actually find worth it and then conclude that more Dil Sinks won't solve the problem. But no - they go with the tried and true Cryptic response of…
  • Star Trek episodes were hardly ever (in fact I can't think of one) about 'just exploration...' Yes, in the opening teaser of an episode the Captain's log might have started with: "...and we're here to explore/catalog/etc..." and them 10-30 seconds later, the initial plot complication occurs, and leads to what happens in…
  • I believe you have to play a TFO on Advanced of Elite to get Endeavour credit. The Event TFOs are locked into Normal mode.
  • The 'Good Old Games' site/store. They sell older DOS and other games with the appropriately configured batch files to allow them to run on more current/modern PCs. If they sell it, they've tested to be sure what they've done WILL allow the game you bought to run on a Win 10/11 OS PC.
  • Because if they didn't it would have crashed... ;)
  • Picard already made STO completely out of synch with 'Prime Universe' canon - so yeah, that particular argument doesn't hold water to a great degree. Yes, of course they would have to clear any SNW related storyline with CBS/Paramount; but given the state of STO (especially with the current most recent storyline that SHOWS…
  • Well, it first appeared in ST: D S2 so generally it's referred to as The Donnie And the Kelvin Universe version is: The Konnie ;)
  • They already have 2-3 versions of the same ship in a few cases; so if they did the hypothetical T7 ships in the same way they did T6 - you'd have yet ANOTHER full copy of an existing ship. So better just to keep the ships as they are and add the slots and other amenities via the Upgrade tokens. Overall a lot less work for…
  • This MMO is very casual. As a result, all non-Elite end game content is scaled to MkXII gear and probably even 'rainbow builds' (IE players that just equip whatever consoles/weapons drop.) You don't want to make any aspect of a F2P game frustrating to the point a new player will quit because you want the occasional Zen…
  • Actually the Pike character coined 'Engage' in the 1964 unsold Star Trek Pilot 23 years prior to the Picard character's use of it in 1987.
  • T6-X WAS T7 T6-X2 = T8 I guess. Gotta have something new that drives the sales of the Ship Upgrade Tokens I guess.
