Im having this problem right now - get to the Legacy of Romulus screen and nothing, game goes not responding! Any ideas how to get past this?

I have a D'kyr and really like it, the turn rate is a little slow but I have found that can take a lot of damage and still survive. I think the main reason i bought it (other than i wanted a science ship) was mainly for its look! you dont see many so I like being the one that stands out :D
