  • Right. It's an intermittent problem that will spike when volume in the pipe is higher for a period and then spike down. It does not seem to do that in real time, however (doubt many people are on Netflix right now in North America), but there seems to be a period cap in the port bandwidth that, once met, clogs until it…
  • A few weeks ago those of us on FIOS were having problems as well, and then they cleared up for some of us for a bit. Each time it is a little different, but in the end it's the network connectivity that suffers. Likely not much we can do. It appears to relate to a corporate dispute between Cogent, the backbone pipe…
  • Neverwinter is having similar issues. Likely it's the Cogent/Verizon problem.
  • We're having similar issues in Neverwinter. Can login, run around/play in large instance zones but when trying to access single player instances, it hangs, then gets server not responding for ten seconds, then boots with the "Timed Out Connecting to GameServer" notice. Can log back in in safe mode, but cannot access the…
  • Same thing is happening for some of us in Neverwinter as well. It's impacting the instanced content rather than the open world areas. I can log in and run around in the open world instances fine, but it hangs when loading a single player instance, and then boots with the message "Timed Out Connection to GameServer". Some…
  • I don't see a science officer in engineering on a Klingon ship, and my Boff who is the dept head of science is on the bridge and won't interact. Any ideas?
  • My take: you play Romulan because you like to play as a Romulan. I played STO for a month or two when it was released in the winter of 2010. Then I left. Main reason was that I could not play as a Romulan. You could design your own Romulan-esque character through the character creator, but there was no Romulan content per…
  • I've been back to normal since yesterday. Let's hope it stays that way.
  • I actually don't mind the grind because I am doing in slowly and making progress sufficient to keep doing it without feeling obsessive. It's about an hour or so a day for me, which is manageable and fine. I played back in 2010 but left after a few weeks. I can imagine that if you have a level 50 Fed player with a lot…
  • The community moderator in the Neverwinter thread on this has said that they are looking into the issue, so that's something. It's obviously something that is impacting Verizon players on both games.
  • It's not impacting anything else on Verizon. I don't think there's much we can do about the issue, but it would be nice if Cryptic would acknowledge that there is an issue and that there isn't much they can do about it.
  • Neverwinter has been having the same issues all day as well, and it's also Verizon FIOS players. I am guessing that we are a small enough group of players such that it doesn't rise to being a level of interest for Cryptic. Either that, or people haven't tried logging in en masse this evening yet.
  • It's an issue with the Feds currently certainly. The Fed content, which is the oldest, isn't really "fixed", and isn't up to par with the newer Klingon and Romulan content. I also returned recently but have only played Romulan (which I would have played if they were available at release) and not my old Fed character very…
  • I also returned a few weeks ago after leaving one month after launch. I did level cap at launch, however, but didn't like the endgame at the time. I agree that LoR is very well done, and have enjoyed leveling another character under the revamped scheme of the game.
  • The difference is that each time you login, there is a selling opportunity for Cryptic/PWE. Very generally, players will not make more than one purchase per login (exceptions, of course, but generally this is true). The more logins, the more opportunities you have to buy something. Of course, no-one buys every time they…
  • I would echo what some of the other posters have said in that an MMO is going to play differently than a single player game like Deus Ex or Mass Effect. In a single player game, especially one of the better story-driven ones, you are immersed in a very specific storyline, and you play it through to the end -- in a good…
  • Oh it's ironic. Playing again after a few years hiatus for one day and ... it's like it was way back then with the servers. Plus ca change and all that. Hilarious really.
