  • (My issues with getting images to the forums are based on my gaming set-up: the gaming computer talks to nothing but STO & a couple other games. I snap pics with my phone, but uploading pics to the computer-that-talks-to-forums is a pain, and the forums interface is buggy on the phone – no search field available!) I would…
  • Another Dilithium option that I hope I haven't missed in skimming the thread: Upgrading Bridge Officers in quality to Purple. I am a silly creature and am attached to most of my original Bridge Officers from the tutorial, but objectively... I shouldn't be dragging Satra around with me when I could have a purple-quality…
  • If any of the retired missions work at all, or with minimal tweaking, use Dilithium to unlock them as "bootleg holodeck training programs" at Drozana or DS9 -- yeah, they're buggy. You have to agree that you will not hold Quark/Drozana-guy liable for any bugs you encounter, cough up Dilithium to buy a Holodeck Latinum…
  • I'm almost always getting a black screen with spinny circle on the first time I try to connect. I force-quit the process ("end task"), go back to the overall game-select window, re-launch the STO-specific launcher ("click Play on the STO page"), and then it's been reliably working on the second try. Spouse thinks that…
  • > @othas3 said: > I had been having this problem for a few months, usually after a major patch. It went away after this last patch, but I guess, for some people it re-emerged. When it happens to me, the first time I run Arc, I get a blank screen. If I run another instance (without doing anything to the first), it works.…
  • The game most certainly does have flags for dialogue depending on if you're Romulan or not; I had both of them show up for my Romulan during the mining-mission, where one meets Ferengi Madran and goes into the secret Tal Shiar base. First I got the "you are Starfleet" dialogue from an accompanying NPC, then I got the "you…
  • My ships often hork out regular, uncrafted batteries, as well as turrets. Occasionally they even barf up a phaser bank into Inventory. I think this is more likely to happen to me after I have used a battery or turret; it's like the Load-out thinks there needs to be the exact same number of the consumable item as when it…
  • If you haven't opened that many Phoenix Packs on the character with all those one-use smallcraft, perhaps the bug is that they got copied over from a cross-faction character?
  • I've been able to add skills despite the "retrain" button; I believe double-clicking on the desired icon does it. (It's definitely Concerning, though, since I have to snap a photo of my skills & traits before retraining & it's such a pain.)
  • That was a really cool update. I don't often see something that feels... "transparent," I guess the buzzword is. Nice. (I would still really love a way to buy ship upgrades for just plain old level 1 ships, so you can keep on patching your T'Liss or Miranda and strapping bigger weapons on the hull or over-engineering your…
  • This all sounds awesome, and the writeup is really cool. Looking forward to FINALLY having a brig cell to use when I want to cobble together an image... (NO NOT LIKE THAT GEEZE GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE ORION GUTTERS)
  • *crossing fingers at Vorta captains* (By the will of the Founders, let there be Vorta Captains, to spread the Good Word of Our Goo and Saviors, the Founders!)
  • (https://sto.gamepedia.com/Daeinos_Warbird_Destroyer with reman shields is THE PRETTIEST SHIP I WILL FIGHT YOU ALL.)
  • *sigh* Yeah, down for me, too. Spouse thinks it's a DDOS attack. Says something about "memecached attackers" have been trying to blackmail multiple sites the last few days. Either the STO people are in the guts of trying to stop the DDOS, or asleep, I guess... And here I only just now got a chance to log in for a Phoenix…
  • Nevermind, found the edit button. ...where is the delete-comment button? *headdesk*
  • I dunno if this will solve your problem, but we had a similar crashing issue on our Macs, using CrossOver as our PC emulator. (Try to connect, get the Cryptic screen for a small "Loading" moment, then crash.) Spouse had to find the file "D3DCompiler_42.dll", copy it, and re-name the copy to "D3DCompiler_47.dll", and now we…
  • It's the Tal Shiar Military Cut, which is slightly different from the usual Regulation Military Cut?
  • Oh, my kid and I had a couple Na'kuhl showing up under the map at one point -- respawns, I think -- as *well* as the Hallway Kills You bug. Our boffs were busy shooting under the floor but didn't manage to kill the two red dots on the minimap. While we can apparently just take the next mission in line and continue on, we…
  • Yessssss, looking forward to this. I don't often have time to go zooming around, and Admiralty/Doff missions are soothing. Being able to start upgrading my stuff without spending my Dilithium? Yay! Don't care if it's slow. (My dilithium is being raided for Fleet Spire upgrades right now. I have none for me. Sad Borg on…
  • I think it's been a bit more crashy for me, though my main issue was the lack of backup when my kid and I emerged from The Vault... (Two shuttles took out a cruiser, yay! ...can't go on without talking to our non-existant backup, boo. Edit: Ah, good, this issue is being addressed on Tribble. Excellent!) Anyway: definitely…
  • I think that crashing a few minutes in is... at least less of a problem than being unable to get in at all. So hopefully they didn't hit any really important code with the timeship weapon...
  • BY THE ELEMENTS, HOORAY! Cannot wait to assimilate the patch. WineSTO doesn't work very well on my machine, even with graphics all turned down to terrible.
  • While this is probably irrelevant (#Borg), whenever I test the launcher now, I *always* have to force-quit it -- as opposed to only sometimes having to do so when the game was successfully launching. (It really doesn't play nicely with the Mac, does it...)
  • Perhaps run a kickstarter to port STO entirely to... isn't it Lua that WoW uses? And it runs on both Mac and Windows? So they'd only have to maintain one codebase that way. I'd probably drop a couple hundred for that, if it meant I was more likely to keep my beloved STO characters, instead of losing them the way I lost my…
  • 6:17pm server time, though. Remember that STO is on California time. (It's 10:20pm where I am.) So it's still only been screwed up for less than a half hour. I wonder if it's screwed up for EVERYONE, or just Europe and the US's East Coast...
  • At least it's not just me. Had some nightmare that some neighbor was doing Horrible Things and had gotten the whole swath of IP banned somehow... This is about the only time I've had to go get my crystal shard of the day and I am going to be crabby if I miss completing the event on one of my characters because of this. :(…
