Is it just me or does anyone else has the problem that the forums take a lot longer to load since today.
It takes about ten tries for me to even load a page due connection time out... I barely made this post today.
All other sites load perfectly fine it is just the STO sites.
obviously people are using picture sigs now which will slow down the speed a page loads at but i cant say its had any noticeable effect on me.
there is an option somewhere to disable sigs so you cant see them. try that and see if it speeds up.
if it is then i dont think your internet speed can be that great if its struggling. i have about a 2meg connection which is nothing special and i have no issues.
edit - unless your browser has some kind of security feature/cookies that these picture sigs are causing problems with?
Ok, this is annoying now.
Takes ages before the STO site loads and there is definetly nothing wrong with my 2meg connection. All other forums and sites are loading perfectlly fine, but only all of the STO pages crash or take an eternety to load. I tried IE and Firefox now and it is the same problem.
I have been to startrekonline.com on three different devices on two different networks (MediaCom and AT&T) this morning and have yet to see a problem.
There could ba a bad switch somewhere that's messing up your signal routing. Or your ISP could be doing some maintenance. This was the case with me a few weeks ago. I had a connection to the internet but couldn't do anything with it. Turned out my ISP had throttled the traffic back while they worked to replace an access point.
Where do you live (state or country)? That might help us find where the issue is.
Had the same problem last night. Just sto was not working. Played some TRIBBLE ops and all was fine after a match or 2. That being said. Theta your sig is too big, in pixels and kb,
Signatures are limited to five lines of text, including blank lines, or an image that must be no larger than 500x150 pixels and 50Kb in size.
Note the "or" also your image is .png. supposed to be .jpg Just a heads-up
Ping statistics for 208.95.185.44: (www.startrekonline.com)
Packets: Sent = 357, Received = 357, Lost = 0 <0% loss>,
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 66ms, Maximum = 1011ms, Average = 235ms

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 <0% loss>,
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 60ms, Maximum = 1062ms, Average = 223ms
Keep in mind I had Netflix streaming a HD movie at the same time I set the ping to cycle. Also, I live in a rural setting. But it appears that STO's website and server is fine. The amount of lag is the same as Microsoft's Bing (a company with more parking attendants than Cryptic has employees).
It is unlikely you would be able to reproduce our problem. Mine happened last night and fixed itself pretty much right away. I assume its like you said (for me att prolly was doing work on the lines, only problem was that ONLY sto and its forums werent working. Everything else aoksies.

FYI: I'm using 10Mbps cable internet.
Takes me 1 second.

Also, the game launcher is really slow too.
I usually have no problems
It is like the in game lag events are mirrored on this site server as well.
Time to get new Hamsters.
That would explain the lag.
Time to upgrade to Targs.
The few times I get passed the Character Screen, it times out connecting to the game server.
