STO, Step to the back of the "I changed my mind line"...

It's like when you're in line for a roller coaster, and you see that "I changed my mind" path off to the side, with a locked chain guarding it. Maybe you've had a few good rides using the class that you choose, but you don't want all that time to go to waist, so you want to switch. Why not? It's not like they're losing any money by allowing us to do so.

I think they should add respec to class.

But if you could respec a class/species/gender, you wouldn't have as much of a need to buy additional character slots from the C-Store.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but so what? The money guys don't (or shouldn't) care -what- you spend your money on in the game, only -that- you spend your money on stuff in the game.

If a class change costs as much as the current pack of two extra character slots, it makes no difference for Cryptic, financially, the first time you change your mind, and doubles their profit the second time you do. And those who don't want to 'suffer through' their own OCD leveling process a fifth time, don't have to. Everyone wins.

Personally, I'd like to change the race on my VA science character to a proper (non-Alien) one. And if that were possible, I'd probably feel like I have to get a name change to match whatever race I've chosen as well. ($) . ($)
Retraits are also frequently asked for, and I'd bet there's a market for gender changes too.

It's just good business to make those options available. And in the end, no one's forced to use them. Simply starting a new character would still be possible.

This thread should've probably gone in the C-Store forum, though.

Class , Traits, Race we can't expect to be able to change our charatcers everytime we become bored with what we currently have or feel it wasn't a good choice well after the fact.
Seems to go against the core of playing an MMO.
We make choices when we make a toon and should have to stick to the importnat ones like Class, Race and traits when we've made them.
If I dislike what I have done down the road, I just make a new toon transfer the old toons stuff and try again.
    IMO.

You wouldn't really need a slot from the C-Store to DELETE your current character and start over. And if you respec'ed a character into a different Career, you wouldn't have the "original character" available anyway. So no loss there.

I can see a C-Store purchase to respec your career. But really, levelling up as one class and changing to another at max level is pretty much frowned on in MMOs.

What if all your extra character slots are full? LOL What if the person is OCD about what races/class/factions they have in all of their character slots?

Like the other people said in this thread already, if there's a market for for $$, then cryptic should make it. All the other mmorgs I've played have this option in the c-store or their equivalent store. Cryptic needs to be competitive, so if it's available in another game, they have to cough up the feature, or face loosing players. That's the reality of this situation that they cannot ignore.

Heh, not true. People in CO can retcon, change appearance and pay for rename tolkens and it's an altaholics dream. I know fellow forumites over there that have bought a ton of slots. Also, Cryptic makes money on the rename tolkens, sometimes folks but retcon tolkens, etc..etc...

imo, it would make them more money, not lose them any money.

Edit: Of course, this is an apples to oranges kind of thing. the leveling is much easier and quicker for the first 15 levels in champs. In STO just getting to 10 is a bit of a grind in comparison.

well what there gonna do is let us convert are officers into alts we can play with. that feature has been talked abought for some time now. kinda like how a deathnight in wow starts at 50 but you need to have a leveld main aruldy to make it. whats the max rank for a bof i knoe its not vc anyways i assume there max rank is the highest you can make a bof start it. but still lets you skip the low level stages a plus.

Min/max for cash because you were naive when you started, yeah been asked for a lot.

Also allows people who think they know what is up to change to the FOTM, when they learn better.

I'm up for that, you wanna spend some cash and help my game come along, great. Once I started playing computer games (long ago) I realized it wasn't about using what you made but what you can follow.
