This thought kept racing through my head as I was doing that part of infected.
Come to think of it I've always been annoyed by "jump quests" in MMOs
In Maple Story, I nearly when mad trying to do it with a keyboard (it's 2D WHY can't we use controllers?)
In Runes of Magic, I left teleport spots at the end of each of the seasonal repeatable spots.

I don't know it just my 2 energy credits, and I thought the "I'm a Engineer not a Mario Brother" was funny as heck.

Except when (breaking the 4th wall a bit) you press Jump and your rigorous physically trained officer doesn't always jump 100% of the time or has a slight delay which leads one to wonder why your strong muscular officer has a pause between jumping and when the jump was initiated..
Sadly theres no canon answer out of it, they've fixed it some over time but the jump mechanic in game is still iffy at times. Making the ending of Infected.. a nail bitter as you pray you don't end up standing in the plasma.
Then why am I never able to get a group of people who can do it? It must be karma - or just plain bad luck!
Naturally what I said cannot, in this case, be taken seriously...yet it dealt with the "I am a Engineer..." comment. Humor aside...and per usual game mechanics...sounds like lag if you are not jumping when you request it...or perhaps your space bar {or whatever key you use} is worn out.
To be fair I have lost count of how many times I have run Infected...and have likely experienced every possible glitch...including the human glitch of denial...or placing blame on something other than ones self for failure.
My toneless humor was intended to remind the OP that his class is meaningless {even though he himself was being silly}, and that it is up to him to learn to jump. While it is true {as suggested by DeadlyShoe} that he can rely on others to be the jumpers...he would be more valuable if he could jump.
To be further fair...everyone still falls in on occasion...we are human after all. I still run this mission on occasion to help others....and on rare occasions mess up and fall in. It is not the end of the world. It is only a problem when you get to the end and you are the only one statistically unlikely to fall in lol.
Are you sure? There are perks to being Italian. And you look like you could use some pasta.
Laugh out loud :-)
He never should have assimilated so many donuts.
True that!
I Sprint straight at the jumps and leap across each platform without stopping. Since I started this tactic I have not fallen in the plasma (other than when a borg uses knockback mid-jump, or intentionally
Same problem. I just jump-jump-jump
Well you certainly weren't there to 'rescue' the princess.
Seriously though Infected hardly qualifies a comparison to mario. I have never found myself doing THAT much jumping. (I do find myself wondering why the Borg would surround themselves by such a thing)
That part of Infected always frustrated me.
At 1st I though it was just that I could not get the timing on the jumps down right; however, I later noticed that on the bigger jumps, the ones that you need to get a running start on, that I'd get a bit of lag and my jump would have a delayed response and I'd end up getting a plasma bath.
I only seem to get that running jump lag on that part of the mission anywhere else and I seem just fine.
On the bright side my mid field defense is outstanding
They didn't make you lift both feet off the ground at the Academy?
Softbodies in their pajama uniforms.
Just takes some time in ESD and jump some of the crates scattered around. You'll get the hang of the jump mechanic in no time.
I noticed the only time i take a plasma swan dive is if i hesitate or think about it. In around 30+ runs i have fallen maybe 8 times.
This. Literally the only time I've ever taken a "plasma bath" was not from missing my jump, it was from another player jumping across me, making me bounce off of them and fall in.
dang thats annoying.
another cause is being hit by borg weapons fire while jumping.
so we try to clear as many borg as possible before jumping
*Places a boom-box by the OP, puts a CD with the Mario theme on it into teh Boom-Box, places a Mario hat on the OP, hits the Play button, and runs off*
EDIT: To the OP: Just be glad we didn't have to jump through assimilated pipes to get from level to level.
I know what a sewer pipe looks like after years of use. I shudder to think what an ASSIMILATED sewer pipe looks like.
Yeah, stay in the middle then. Let someone else do the footwork.
I prefer a bat'leh, a close combat kit, and a lot of jumping.
