Okay, so this is what I was thinking the other day. We all know that the Federation faction is based around Story missions, while the klingons are based on PvP. But I wanted to specifically look at the different mission types availablee to each faction:
FEDERATION:
- Story Missions
- Patrol Missions
- Defense Missions (wandering enemy signal contacts)
- Exploration Missions
- Fleet Actions
- Diplomatic Missions (investigations, relief efforts, and first contacts)
- PvP Missions (fight in x number of arenas, capture and holds, or assaults)
- War Zone Missions (fight in x number of war zones)
- Special Task Force Missions
- Featured Missions
KLINGON:
- Story Missions
- Fleet Actions
- Goal Missions (die x number of times, destroy x number of ships, kill x number of people, ect.)
- Empire Defense Missions
- Sorties
- Exploration Missions
- PvP Missions (fight in x number of arenas, capture and holds, or assaults)
- War Zone Missions (fight in x number of war zones)
- Special Task Force Missions
- Featured Missions
Then I was thinking, what if the Romulan gameplay (when it comes out) is based on Crafting? I mean, they are always trying to get new Borg or Thaloron weapons, so it makes sense that they would want to craft for more powerful weapons.
This is my idea for what the Romulan missions should look like:
ROMULAN:
- Story Missions
- Fleet Actions
- Exploration Missions
- Sorties
- Patrol Missions
- PvP Missions (fight in x number of arenas, capture and holds, or assaults)
- War Zone Missions (fight in x number of war zones)
- Reasearch Zone Missions (explained below)
- Goal Missions (gain x reasearch skill, find x research material, ect.)
- Special Task Force Missions
Now the reasearch zones are like War zones, but they have several anomalies, and the goal is to scan them and escape with the data before the other side.
They don't have featured missions, because some of them are based on them.
What do you guys think?

True Way:
In a Quest, you do patrol-like missions with NPC allies that follow you. You start with a certain number of these allies, but as they are destroyed they don't return. You must complete 6 missions straight, and at the end you must fight a dreadnaught (The enemy sector flagship). Hope that you still have enough NPCs at that point to beat it. you must pay EC to go on a quest, but the rewards are great (you do get EC for completing them, and a LOT of Merits/Honor, as well as amounts of SP and Boff SP appropriate for 6 missions. Oh, and the Klingons would also have access to quests.

I was actually surprised that intelligence missions didn't make the list for any of the factions.
BORG:
Why so few? Well, Story is a given, as is PvP (although the borg have no real reason to kill enemy champs, so they aren't oligated to fight in PvP). Fleet Actions, well, it's the colective working as one right? And Assimilation missions are like exploration missions, but with a goal to assimilate the species you encounter. Perhaps thy could have "Assimilation Quests" also.
(And remember, there is no turning back
UNDINE:
- Story Missions
- Fleet Actions
- Goal Missions (destroy x number of ships, kill x number of people, ect.)
- Quests
- Empire Defense Missions
- Exploration Missions
- PvP Missions (fight in x number of arenas, capture and holds, or assaults)
- Infiltration Missions (Explained below)
In Infiltration Missions, you can play the story missions of another race, in that race's ship (other than anti-Undine missions). Your Boffs are also Undine. However, if you are ever incapacitated, you are revealed as an Undine, and you and your Boff's mission immediately changes to an ship-internal "escape" mission to get to the shuttlebay and, well, escape. So you can do anybodies story missions, but they are much harder to actually complete.(I.E. if im on ESD trying to assassinate Quinn... should i pass too close to either a Vulcan,Betazoid or another telepath .. I become a target to them... then should they get me to X ammount of health the undine will morph back into its origonal form becoming a target to everyone until it either dies or finds another target to morph into.)
Story wise - Hmm I'd say focus on the Borg and Iconions.
Defend the Empire missions - Gotta teach those dam bipedal scum to read the "stay out of Fluidic space signs"
