Also, the scaling is even further off:

Looks cool, which is great. I've already got a LT sub here, and I wont have to pay to play that, so thats 2 trek games I can play for free :D

I wonder if that angle (top view) is the only one you have for combat? Not sure I care for all the yellow/orange/blue circles and stuff around everything during combat.

    It does look interesting though.

It looks interesting but the other combat, in-game footage has the same view. It looks like the scaling got worse since the last promo, in-game footage.

Looks awfully dull, like a sub-par SFC clone.
Though i'm sure it will amuse me a little in the wee hours when STO is down for maitenence, or during lunch breaks.

Good questions. No game will ever be perfect for everyone, but I'm sure as hell playing this one if its free!

Reminds me of arcade games like Galaga but more stationary, if that makes sense.

Pretty much. I dont get why people feel the need to bash this game; like I said earlier, 2 cool Trek games is better than 1. I guess people feel threatened or insecure about STO and are just worried.

We can all bash or praise either game as we please. It's a discussion and it's not my insecurity saying the scaling is off. :p

I totally want the viewscreen though. It's a lot more immersive than the sidepanel NPC: just that increased background. :)

whilst it looks relatively decent for a browser game i worry that it will feel like a watered down version of sto.

ill give it a crack but unless the story is something epic im not really expecting to be blown away by it.

but assuming it is free then i cant really grumble too much.

I dont personally consider that a "bash". But to respond to your first sentence, who said you couldnt?

"The Klingon went rampage, we needed to stun him"

Is this game being made by people who do not speak English?

    "Went mad" is acceptable.

    "Went rampage" is not.

And I have no idea what you mean about interiors.
My captain bashes his head against the bulkhead every time he walks into his 'ready room'.
Most doorways are big enough, but the 'ready room' and 'turbo lift' doorways are too short.

    It's developed by Germans, yes.

Think of it as a revenge for the poor localization that STO has in Germany.

The video in the OP is actually from this article:

    http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/03/gdc-star-trek-infinite-space/

A pretty nice read for anyone interested in this game. And I have to echo the sentiments of several others in this thread, that is to say the more Star Trek games the better. Variety is always nice.

wouldnt mind playing this if its free, and whats the name of the song during the first firefight with the Klingons? Ive been trying to figure it out without buying every last Star Trek Song on iTunes.

I'm not sure...but I know you can listen to every song from that soundtrack on youtube.

TRIBBLE. I just read on page 3 that there wont be any ground combat. That really sucks.

    Not just that:
Unlike Star Trek: Online, Star Trek Infinite Space does not feature any kid of direct ground based gameplay. Instead, away missions basically play out like in similar fashion to the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books of old.

If you really like Choose Your Own Adventure Books, it might work.

    hmmm... I dunno.

I'd actually like a more puzzle oriented ground system. if they could manage that then I'd be interested. Maybe something like Star Trek: A Final Unity. I miss those old adventure games.

Those games were cool. Sitll no shots of ground mission environments yet.

Thats because there wont be any, according to that article:

"Unlike Star Trek: Online, Star Trek Infinite Space does not feature any kid of direct ground based gameplay"

That would mean the only ground locations are starbases or social areas.

I kind of quoted that at the top of the page. ;)

    It's from JJ's Star Trek...

(give me a few minutes and I'll find the title,,,)

    "Nero Fiddle's... Narada Burns..."

That view is the only space combat view available. And yes, that's pretty much the norm for most browser based games of this nature. And as you noice, teh scaling there too is WAY off (not a big surprise for ANY game of this type, opr STO as well for that matter); and honestly, I really am not impressed with the game models. (but YMMV.)

It looks okay for what it is: A F2P browser based game.

But it's a long way from a fully fleshed out, full independent client based MMO like STO.

Thats what is so confusing. You quoted it yourself, but then made a post saying they still hadnt released any pics of ground missions...when the quote you posted earlier says there arent any.

The view and scaling have nothing to do with how "fleshed out" a game is.

It doesn't say that: it just says there isn't any combat. :)

Ground combat =/= ground missions environments. There could be ground environments and still not be any direct combat and I doubt they'd have station interiors without missions.
