Ship recommission Idea

Some people, I may even dare say most, keep their old ships and in some cases, they're never used again. Well I have an idea for Admirals only and it involves recommissioning your ships with NPC crews and having them make energy credits for you.

So essentially you can choose to recommission one or more of your old ships, maybe even choose a Captain for each ship, and while they stay in your ship list, you can't use it yourself until you make it available to you. And maybe even then it only becomes available after a few hours which would essentially be equivalent to the ship coming back from wherever it is in space.

So how much a ship makes for you in a day will depend in its tier. You don't ever see the ship in sector space, it's all just handled in the background. But the purpose is to actually feel like an Admiral in charge of a small number of ships. Maybe you could even set the ship's destination. If you really want to go crazy, there could even be a simple Starfleet duty board with sectors that need patrolling or aid or something, and you can select one of your recommissioned ships and set that ship on that duty for however long it takes to complete.

Okay, I don't want to make this post to long. Hopefully the gist of the idea is clear. Add a little bit of micromanagement for Admirals. Maybe the idea's even been posted already. Thanks for your time.

    There is talk of Cryptic implementing a system that effectively gives Admirals a space-based version of an "away team"... but I do like your idea. :)

    Always struck me as a little odd that my "Admiral" never actually could manage more than one ship at a time, yet thats what Admirals are supposed to do.

    Awesome. This isn't even that complex. It would all run in the background and you'd have a couple of UIs for everything.
