In Star Trek Online we have made contact with Scotty, Kirk, Bones, and Spock all from the Original Series, but where has the love for the Next Generation been?
It makes no sense to me that we are playing a game that takes place after the most recent Next Generation movie (and the future half of the new reboot) yet all the important cameos come from a generation hundreds of years in the past...
The storyline developed for the most recent movie shows that spock has been trapped in the past so perhaps seeing future him is out of the question, unless there is a special storyline for returning him to the present.
But what about Jean-Luc, Data, Riker, LaForge etc.?
Jean-Luc is now supposed to be an ambassador during this time, data as the new captain of the enterprise, and where is Riker and the Titan?!
So why havent we run into them/had missions story plots with any of the Next Generation crew that we know and love so much?
I know that all star wars fans play this game, but I'm sure as this time line is closer to the next generation the majority of players have a major interest in those characters as well.
FYI - for those of you about to say DATA IS DEAD! or Jean-Luc is still the captain of enterprise! I suggest reading the comic series released for the latest movie which advances the characters stories. And before you say "well thats probably not canon" STO online itself addresses data being the new captain of the enterprise in its loading screen facts and hints.
theres alot of other generation characters that could be brought to play from the enterprise crew and various antagonists I personally would like to see Tomalak take over the romulan star empire now that Selas gone missing.

its been awhile since weve seen tomalak. he may have been tomahawked
As has been said many times on this forum, Cryptic needs to get permission to use the likeness of actors in the game. That permission often comes with a fee paid to said actor associated with it. Dstahl once made a joke on the forum that he was going to put a, IIRC, $125,000 C-Store item up for sale if someone wanted to buy the rights to use Brent Spiner. I think you can get the idea of why most of the Next Gen era characters are not in the game. Worf is in the game, BTW, on the Klingon side.
Also, your timeline information is a bit off. Picard is retired. He was the Ambassador to Vulcan but retired in France many years ago. You can also read about what Geordi and the rest have been up to over the 30 years since Nemesis in the Timeline on the forum.
Spock is in the game because Cryptic paid for him to be in the game. McCoy and Scotty were in the game, well, because Kelley and Doohan have both passed away and it was easy for Cryptic to get access to their image rights.
I would love to see some of my heroes form TNG in this game.
The time travel stuff around TOS was nice, the guardian mission, the devidian stuff where great, but with TNG i fell in love with Star Trek. So please could we see more references to TNG like a time travel visit to the Ent - D.
I am not a big Voyager fan but it would be nice to know what happend to this ship or the Defiant or even the Titan.

Thank you for reading.
The original Defiant in DS9 was destroyed in the series. The second Defiant is still in use. Kurkland is flying it. IIRC the Voyager was retired and sent to the SF museum. The Titan is probably still in service under a new Captain.

Right i forgot about the Defiant -A, there even WAS a mission involving that ship.
I just hope that there will be not only TOS references in further Missions/ Weeklies. I mean ToS was great but there is so much more to see.

Brent Spiner is a pretty hardcore trekkie himself, your telling me that they couldn't find someway to have his appearance? And I'm sure no character is more famous than Spock when it comes to Star Trek, and they have him heavily throughout the game in voice, and appears in a mission or two.
And you are correct about Jean-Luc, he is now retired on earth, but still a visit would be nice! Plus, its picard we are talking about! Have him come out of retirement for some major crisis in a featured episode or something.
And where is the enterprise in general? And the Titan? they should be floating around in game, and if riker isnt the captain anymore what is he doing?

You get the part about Spiner wanting BIG MONEY to use his likeness in the game, right? Cryptic can't just use his image without his permission. They will get sued.

He is 104 years old in this timeline.

The Enterprise E was sent on a mission and no one has heard from it since. This is the same general era as the All Good Things episode so it is possible that Riker is an Admiral now, or he could be dead or retired. Again, we will not see him in game unless Cryptic and Frakes come to a usage agreement.
I just hope that there will be not only TOS references in further Missions/ Weeklies. I mean ToS was great but there is so much more to see.
We certainly have Next Gen era references. There are several missions involving Miral Paris. Donatra, from Nemesis, is on the Khitomer Accords STF, and there are plenty of other non-major appearances throughout the game that have nothing to do with TOS.
Where did you hear about the mission Enterprise E went on? So that means Data is M.I.A.?
Is that why I've heard talk of designing Enterprise F? (I play the game mostly and don't keep up on the community events as much)
All we know is that in late 2408 the Enterprise E was sent to investigate why SF lost contact with Starbase 236. There is nothing else after that. You can read about all of that in the Timeline on the main webpage.
As for why there is an Ent-F contest, that has to do with the fans wanting the Ent-J in the game and that idea getting vetoed by CBS. So Cryptic and CBS decided to have a different "future" ship in the game, and that became the contest for the Ent-F.
Doesn't mean Picard can't make an appearance. McCoy was still in Starfleet during the Enterprise-D's mission to Farpoint at the age of 137. He's still around as far as the year 2381 if you follow the books.

I'm not saying he can't make an appearance - assuming likeness fees can be worked out between Cryptic and Sir Patrick. I am simply saying that the Picard we would see in the game would be more akin to the future version from AGT: quite old and deeply affected by Irumodic Syndrome.
Personally I think an interesting mission would be to take Picard from Earth to the Ba'ku in the Briar Patch - with a group attempting to stop you. There he could reverse the Irumodic Syndrome and start growing younger. Of course he might never want to leave Anij.
I vote Wesley Crusher becoming a starfleet captain! In the cut scenes from Nemesis Wesley says he has rejoined starfleet, and I'm sure it can't be that expensive to get wil wheaton lol

personally i think he will have spent enough time there to never have gotten it
i never got that
i sure as hell would retire to where the woman i love is, especially since you can spend pretty much an eternity there

It's hard to say how much he loved Anij. He might have loved Beverly more.
To some extent what the Ba'ku represent is the Garden of Eden. As much as we think of Picard as a scholar he was also an explorer. I think the need for him to see what's beyond the next star would pull him away from the Ba'ku relatively quickly and he would stay with them, at most, only a few years - just long enough to regain his vitality.

Wil Wheaton is pretty popular. He has 1.7 million twitter followers (Spiner only has 1.3 million) and pops up every so often on Big Bang Theory. And since most of his income comes from appearance fees and rerun royalties now he probably does not work too cheap.
Don't forget that there are several Klingon missions in-game now that feature Worf.
And the Worf Cryptic made looks like he lost a fight to a lawn mower haha....
But in all seriousness.....Cryptic needs to STOP with the ENT and TOS era stuff.....this game was advertised as being a new unknown era.....but all I see is out-of-era most of the time now.
We just need brand new stuff, not retrofitted things.

Possible spoiler alert!!!
Wasn't there a mission in the game where you rescue Riker's son? Maybe I'm remembering wrong. He was a trader or something. The toon looked like him too, complete with beard etc.

It was the son of Thomas Riker - William Riker's transporter duplicate.

Pretty sure we don't ever see Kirk in the game (though there is a USS Kirk referenced)
