When can we get Exocomp pets?

I am dying to have a pet Exocomp floating along behind me!

It would be even better if it was a defensive pet that cleared mechanical debuffs like Weapon Malfunction or Fuse Armor. But I want one even if only for looks!

Can we have one eventually, Devs?

    If your talking about mechanical 'pets', why not have a pet 'Nomad' probe. It would make an excellent ship self-destruct device...

    I think they are called Androids by 2411....and they are not pets.

    In terms of game mechanics, what would you call them (Exocomps) then?

    I think the Devs will know what I mean.

    Besides, Exocomps are not androids. They are AI, which is not quite the same thing as an android. An android may have AI, but an AI is not necessarily an android.

    Eventually we will have Android Bridge Officers, and perhaps even playable Android characters for all I know. But I can predict with near-certainty that there will never be Exocomp BO's or playable Exocomps.

    So, pet seems to be an appropriate term.

    If I may make a general suggestion about pets...Have it so you can beam your first officer down with you, that way there is a lot more selection of pets running around...instead of horta horta horta horta horta....Sehlat

    trolls aside we need more pets, or maybe you are all just horta lovers! *doesnt want to think how that would work* More selection of pets and not just from the original series please!

    Tribbles were great, horta fail looks like molten lava blob. more selection for win

    Not so sure about space -- They shouldn't be flying around on their own and would only be on your ship. There are other 'pets' for that. But Exocomps would certainly be of use on the ground.

    In fact, it could be an interesting thing to tie them in to the Duty Officer system somehow. I could see them being given Engineering assignments.
