Anyone know or heard when the next weekly series will be. I keep hearing of this 4 month window of no content after this week =(.

no one knows the exact date

the next weekly series might not be until sometime june-august time depending on when the next big update hits as they wanted to utilise some of the new tech for the series. so it could well be 4 months or more before we see another series. although they were in discussion about it so its possible they may change their minds and we might see it sooner.

if it is 4 months or so then that does not mean there will be no content from now until then though. the foundry, remastered eps, dailies etc and maybe a few other things will be filling the void.

I just hope that is enough to keep veterans like myself still interested.. if they get the foundry up and running in the next month or so, that should fill the void from a content point of view. I am going to miss the weeklies though...=(.

This game has made great strides and cryptic needs to continue this great momentum this game has.

I hope they do not get too comfortable with content. They did say 2 weeks between weeklies and now we are up to 4 months. I thought the delay for season 3 was a special case, but looks like season updates will become a permanent stop gap for them now. Pity. The Foundry was meant to be a feature, not an TRIBBLE for content constipation.

I am deeply troubled by this decision by Cryptic. Does not make any sense to me.. they should hire more people devoted to developing content and continue their focus on other upgrades as well (foundry, ground combat etc).

Well until in 4 months, they will have by then the foundry and Season 4 launched. I do understand, that the staff is short handed and is focusing of these releases. Anyway, this doesn't keep me warm. Still after the revmap of SOME (not all) of the elder missions, there is not enough interesting things in STO for long terms of playing the game. STO will definitely loose it's momentum, no dobt. The positive impact coming from the latest seasoned episodes will vanish and again STO will loose customers to coming new MMO's. I may be one of them.

It is like going into a restaurant, even it would be famous, having the best cuisine, as long as you have to wait a whole day until you get a salad it ain't worth it. So you'll simply go to another restaurant. I am neither sad, nor mad because Cryptic chose this path. As a simply customer I take my choice of reaction. All I want in an MMO is to be entertained, and not to pay something that might could possibly come in the far future.

Like I said in the other thread:
This is going to be a really tough spell for STO. I hope Cryptic has something planned to keep people subscribed. I know they mentioned having "reruns" of featured series, but considering people can already replay those missions any time they want and the only people who dont have the special reward are those who were not playing at the time, that wont really be anything special to most people. I just hope the Foundry comes out soon and that enough people find it as awesome as I do.
I wish I could enjoy replaying the same missions over and over, I really do. After I read a book, it takes years before I can enjoy reading it again because the story is still too fresh in my mind if I try sooner. Likewise, it will probably be quite some time before I can enjoy playing the same missions that I have already played again, and that includes dailies since they are the same as replaying a mission. I guess thats why the Foundry is my fave addition to this game since the featured episodes :)

Speaking of the other thread, this discussion has been going on for much longer here:

Time to suspend my subscription for four months. I love this game, but I have literally nothing to do that I haven't done dozens of times before. PvP, grinding emblems, crafting, etc, It all bores me to tears now.

There are no strange new world to explore. The Klingon empire cannot be expanded. There's no reason to keep doing repetitive stuff that has lost all its wonder and excitement, or for rewards that no longer add anying to make my build better.

Before you do so, I would recommend loging on Tribble and checking out the Klingon missions in the Foundry. Supposedly it is going live this month, and that will give you a ton of things to do that you have never done before.

Sad I'll never join the KDF, it would be worth to try the new PVE contend of the Klingons. But as I do not like the Klingons at all, I definetly wouldn't enjoy their gameplay.

The Fed missions are way to many to be all changed, and that means boring grind² as long the game will exist. That is for one reason my hopes lies in a potential 3rd faction. I hope the dev's could use all they've learned to build the mission and story design better than Federation and KDF.

There are 2 reasons that doesnt really make sense. First of all, there are several races you can choose on the KDF side other than Klingon, and you can create your own with the alien. Second, the KDF missions are pretty much the same thing as the Fed missions: all combat. Maybe if the Fed gameplay wasnt 99% focused on combat you would have a point, but at the moment both factions missions are pretty much the same thing just with different text.

And thus, the importance of active raid content becomes apparent.

We have been having this discussion at length in 12th. I firmly believe raid content is in fact not what we need.
What we need and what would be best for the game, also revolutionary for industry. Is for 48 out of 52 weeks of the year to have a new FE. (Ok thats a little much but you get the idea). Raid content has always gotten to much time devoted to it in proportion to the game population that actually see's it. FEs are enjoyed by nearly the whole games population. That is industry changing! Just imagine the day when you can level up your characters simply by running all the episodes once.

That is what Cryptic should be aiming for. Every Star Trek Geek Everywhere will NEED to log on to see the latest stories in the weeklies. It would be so trek! You could even tie in the foundry and have player written FEs, (Some kind of contest or voting process). Just imagine your episode being played be everyone who plays STO. How awesome would that be?

It is all about the KDF faction. I understand Humpalumpa to well. As I do hate the KDF as much as possible. I do not like their immersed motivations. Buildig my own alien race, wouldnt make me confortable at the KDF. So, no Sir, I as well never would play the KDF.
