Does anyone else feel that these missions are a bit too difficult? mobs that spawn gaggles of other mobs with an excessive amount of hit points. this is not something that the average group of 5 players can tackle. Please tell me someone agrees.
I personally find the Borg to be VERY Hard to beat. You can kill them, but they do not fall down, and you can not continue to shoot them, so then they re-generate and come back at you, while four others are Beaming into a Circle around you so you have no route of escape.
I haven't found the Undine to be as hard to kill, but still tough.
The STFs are somewhat difficult. Assimilation, The Return, Fluid Dynamics, A Light in the Dark, and Collateral Damage are not nearly as difficult if you look for the Interlink Node first and take things slowly.
I still believe that this is too hard for 5 average players to complete. most of it is not the nodes, I know about that. its the mobs that spawn more mobs that all have way too many hit points.
1. I have no idea how you have your skills spec'd out, but if you have alot of your points into space based
points you might want to consider doing a RESPEC and putting as many points as possible into GROUND based areas. I was noticing that I was getting my rear handed to me in ground pve, I respec'd, and was able to pick up alot better skills which helped immensely in handing out pain to the borg rather than constantly being on the receiving end of it.
How bad do you want to kick butt in ground pve? By putting MORE skill points into ground skills you will get where you want to be on the ground.
I decided I was going to put all my space based points into 1 weapon type, antiprotons, and one torpedo type, quantums. Doing this freed up a huge amount of skill points to put into ground based skills.
2. Find and read the "GROUND PLAYBOOK" thread. There's alot of good info there.
3. There's a big difference in running a STF with a pickup group and in organized FLEET of players.
More than likely an average 5 player pick up ground group isn't going to be on voice mic's. A FLEET of
organized players WILL be on mic's, and they will coordinate very clearly how to proceed in an STF.
I ran my first STF with the fleet I'm in, and the guys in my fleet were very familiar with the STF we were
running, what weapons worked best, and they helped me get through the tough parts. We ran infected, and it took over 4 hours, and we all had to leave, and we picked it back up 2 weeks later and finished it within 45 minutes.
Those are my tips, take em' or leave em'. They work for me.
I really do not know how these threads get past the moderators. There is a new one every week - search for an old thread and post there instead of cluttering up the forums with yet another open thread about how you want the only challenging missions in the game made easier so you can farm them with impunity and spoil them for the fleets that have worked hard to devise a way to beat them all with consumate ease.
Borg or better the STFs aren't hard in any way, they are tedious sometimes. The problem is, most people level their characters to admiral in a solo way, some even decline to communicate or team up. This leads to a situation where most players are just not used to play as a team, simple as that.
1. There are lots of threads about the STFs: Walkthroughs and Tactics. Not all of them are whines, so keep searching.
2. Not everybody can be the lonely superhero. Try to act as a team. That has nothing to do with being an average player. First rule for teamplay is, pay attention what happens around you and to your fellow players, care for them.
3. Pay attention. Ok, that's already point 2 but if you know what kind of drones to kill first your life becomes easy. Everytime I get a ground fight on advanced in B'Tran I thank a higher deity that's only Borg and none of those noname 1-shot races. Kill Nodes -> Infected Drones / Medical Drones / Drones (no Proto Drone spam anymore) -> everything tactical

While I agree with all the points you listed the amount of trash mobs in the STF's could be lowered to make running the missions less boring and time consuming. Having to slog through hours of borg trash mobs is not in any way a challenge to the playerbase.

Have you read my post as a negative comment? It is not. It's just my point of view why so many (pug) groups fail on the STFs. So, I disagree with your initial statement that Borg missions are hard and tried to tell you what may help you.

Is there any known thread out there that discusses things like Best Weapons, Tactics and Strategies, things like that for fighting Borg and Undine? I don't recall seeing any such discussions, but that does not mean they are not there. If someone could please post a link to those, it would be great.
I did briefly check the Manual, and the Combat forum Section, but saw nothing.
