Fleet Action Changes

Just some input into the last change/update:

* Fleet actions are now level banded to make scoring fairer and more challenging for all players. Players who enter a fleet action mission will be sent to an instance with players within a specific level range and enemies on the map will be scaled appropriately. Rewards are also now scaled based on the level band of the Fleet Action you are sent to. This change also makes many Fleet Actions playable for all levels of players, although Fleet Actions still have a minimum level requirement based on the initial mission that offers you the Fleet Action.

---

Prior to this change, our fleet (consisting of players of various levels) could get together and do a fleet action. NOW, we can't because of the above change.

Is it possible for DEV of STO to allow private fleet actions so we can turn OFF level-banding?

I liked the change a lot, it keeps the admirals from hoarding all the loot in the low level fleet actions. I hope they do the same for the DSEs, I can't get a drop when 3 admirals are running around stealing kills. You would think an RA5 would want more of a challenge than just blowing up ships in one shot.

I agree that if they make any changes to it it should be private instances.

On the one hand I like that the fleet actions scale, so now I can play starbase 24 and it isn't a pointless exercise of me steamrolling through everything and getting nothing of value. On the other hand, I hate that the away team part of the mission was made harder using one of the lamest and least creative methods possible, a zerg rush of Klingons that beam down perpetually. Harder enemies is good, more enemies is good, what seems to be a never ending supply of enemies that show up after you've beat the first group is just annoying.

And with DSEs, they don't seem to be "level banded", they seem to be tailored to the level of the highest person in there. Depending on what I'm doing I might avoid a DSE like the plague because I'm busy, or I might see someone else get pulled in and go in to lend a hand. On a few low level ones I might just use science team/engineering team/extend shields once or twice to help someone survive the spawn camping enemies, then leave them to have a fair fight. It used to be that if they (and the DSE) were way below my level there was really no point for me doing it. Nothing that I could possibly use would be dropped, and those parts can't even be sold for more than like a few hundred credits, so there's really no point in it besides helping some low level player out for a minute. Now I entered a DSE with my low level alt and got TRIBBLE by a Vishap Frigate 39 levels above me. It bothers me that my going in to help some low level player would now probably result in him being in a DSE with enemies he/she cannot possibly survive against, even with my help.

And like the OP said, I actually liked being in a mission from time to time with someone below my level. I think it's better that it be pointless for me, than it is for it to be impossible for them. Hell, make it so if it's completely below my level I get nothing for being there (in DSEs or Fleet Actions), that's still better than if my presence makes it impossible for others. Even if we were just separated by level, that just means I can only play with RA5s on my main, which means not being able to play with any of my friends until they level all the way up. That rules out playing with the only people I actually care to play with.

    (edit)
So yeah, with either DSEs or Fleet Actions I'd rather get no drops, and have no reason to be there other than fun, then be locked out from playing with lower level friends, or worse be forcing them into a fight they cannot survive.

So does this mean that, if I purchase a Runabout, I still wont be able to join low-level friends for DSE and Fleet Actions?

This now makes the low level fleet action empty.
I tried starbase 24 and Tostig and they are empty.
    Great job...not.

Some of us are looking for the accolades. Now that I can't go to a lower level Fleet Action, I am often the only one in the instance. With the Minefield/Blockade mission, that means it is impossible for me to defeat the Dreanaught unless some other player happens along. Players should still be able to go to the lowest level instance if they have not aquire the accolade. Once it is earned, then I could see blocking that charater from the lower level Fleet Actions.
