Can I get a confirmation on episode replay - loot will scale to character?

I read a thread a little while ago about not getting Reman shields at LT level because they will be useless at higher levels. It was suggested that if you run the mission again in episode replay you'd get a higher-level version of the shields. Is this true at all? Does it scale back to all the episodes previously completed? If I run, say, Gateway, will the loot drops be level scaled?

I don't hate running the missions again, some were very enjoyable, but if you're a Admiral and running a mission only to get a CMDR-level drop, it will be a wasted effort.

The loot from the featured missions does scale as you advance. I picked up some disruptors as the mission reward from the third mission as a Commander. I then did a replay of that mission after that player was promoted toa Captain, and the level of the disruptors increased.

Some items have an infinity symbol (an 8 on its side) next to them instead of the usually roman numeral. This means the item scales up as you increase in level.

In the case of the Reman shields, if you get it at Lt the stats will be for Lt. When you reach Lt. Commander it will not level up with you. You can replay the mission and get another Reman shield who's stats will be appropriate for your level.

Was this a mistake at all? It will NOT be appropriate to my level? So if I run it at LT and then run it again at Cpt ti will still give me a LT level item?

I was actually wondering more about the non-featured episode missions like Gateway and the like.

Sorry that was a typo on my part. I'll correct it now. It WILL give you a shield appropriate for your level.

As far as I know non-featured episodes and non-remastered episodes don't have scaling loot. Gateway will give you Lt. grade rewards. After its revamped I'm sure that will be changed.

It was a mistake, you'll get a level appropriate Reman shield any time you replay the mission, up to mk XI at VA1. It's a useful bit, too, since it's the equivalent of a covariant [cap]x2, which is a pretty good shield. One of the Devidian missions, I think Skirmish, actually gives a covariant [cap]x2 shield. Faster to run, same stats, but no special hull effect.

Most non-feature missions don't scale at all - if you replay a LT mission you'll face LT level enemies dropping LT level loot and get an LT level reward at th end. The excpetion is remastered episodes. There's only been one, Stranded in Space, but the enemies and loot scale to your level. The rewards don't, since they're bridge officers, but presumably future remastered missions would give level appropriate loot when completed.

Only certain non-featured missions have things that scale. Most of the regular missions do not scale the difficulty to the level of the player.

Thank you. I was concerned. I wanted an upgraded version of that engine you get from Gateway, hence the reason I kept mentioning it. :)

Yeah, the efficient engines. I know a lot of people who actually just used those all the way till end game, at least until the Aegis/Borg sets were added. It may not level up with you, but it is still one of the best engines in game period.

I honestly suggest you just hang onto them and use them until you can get the Aegis set. The increase in turn rate and speed from other engines isn't that much when compared to the energy level boosts.

Only featured episodes will give you 'level appropriate' Mk whatever (ie, Captains getting Mk XIII, etc) items. The normal missions don't scale upwards from when they're first offered (they did add a TOS Type 1 phaser that levels up with you in whatever mission gave that Mk IV efficient engines, though, making replaying it at least one more time worth it).
