What happend to these?

I noticed these on the net while looking for something and was quite amazed to why they were changed. I don't understand while they were changed in the first place.

Apart from the scale the Galaxy bridge is spot on. The doors are in the right place and the LCARS looks half decent. I wonder why they were changed.

I suppose that depends where you found them and why you think they're from STO.

Fairly certain that Voyager bridge still exists in-game. I believe it only appears as an option for the T2 or T3 Science ships and is not available for any others. I am not sure why.

It's probably a Mod somebody used. I know i've seen some that look just like that (not that I use any mind you;) )

Well one the LCARS display color scheme was changed. Blue was thought to look more futuristic than the TNG "Clown Puke" Also If you notice the display graphics for the LCARS were changed as well and for the better. Less redundant stamp happy look to them now. Would be nice if the color scheme was made canon though.

The reason in-game it was changed, is that MA found that blue Lcars was more soothing to most humanoid's eyes and increased efficiency.

That's what one of the guys in the very center of ESD says.

At which time I told him it only made my BO confused because they had no reference on their panels to quickly find something when stuff was blowing around them.

So I told my chief engineering and Operations officer to fix the issue (aka download the larcs mod) and things are much better now.

I could be wrong, but the first two images look faked to me. It looks like the figure has been superimposed into the image imo, they both seem to have completely different texture qualities.

The third one does look real and I'd guess that it's some Voyager bridge variant, whether it's still in game or not, I'm not sure, might check through my bridge collection

I'm not going to comment on the validity of these screens, aside from to say that I know of a couple of client side mods/hacks that will do this for you. Use of these is not supported, or recommended by us at Atari/Cryptic in any way shape or form.

However, it is scientifically proven that the color blue has a calming effect on most of the human species. It's pretty old research, but I've found it to be true. Conversely, the color red has the opposite effect on most of us.

It's pretty interesting when you think about it. The color of your computer's desktop background, or windows borders can have an actual affect on your mood.

    Thanks,

OK, If you guys watch the "Starship Tactics" part 2 video on the STO main site you will clearly see that the Galaxy bridge in the video is identical to those two pics I posted.

Is this why Klingons are reputed to enjoy PvP, battle, glory and giving our all when fighting?

Has the red gotten to us?

Sorry ... could not resist. :)

Wow... old, old, old footage... alpha and very early beta footage if I'm not mistaken. Things change... especially during that period, camera problems may not have surfaced yet, and as stormshade saide they decided to update LCARs into a blue format.

I still feel that the first two images are somehow faked. there does seem to me to be a huge disconnect between the figure in the foreground and the bridge in the background... I could be wrong about that, but the images don't look right to me at all...

I've not been able to find the bridge in the third image... that one does look real to me. It's possible, as someone else has said that it's tied to one very specific ship (or mission) hence why it's not seen often

You do realize that you gave a red UI to the faction with the least content? :p

Regarding canon-style LCARS in-game, I see the best compromise being this:

    - in an eventual scenario where the TOS interior pack is joined by packs for the TMP Enterprise/Reliant, the TNG Enterprise-D, Voyager, the Defiant and the TNG-Movie Enterprise-E, those will have more-accurate scaling and appropriate-coloured LCARS screens, in the same way that the TOS interior uses screen-accurate graphics instead of the generic blue STO computer displays.

In other words: if you want a better-scaled interior with canon LCARS, use the 'authentic' bridges/interiors. For people who prefer the 2409 look with the blue LCARS, just use the current interiors.

    Problem solved!

Actually, I think you are talking about Commander Thomas Marrone at Memory Alpha...

Who by the way, happens to be modeled after our very own ThomasTheCrypticCat.

And what if we want modern interiors that aren't in funhouse mirror scale? ;)

This is pretty much the reason I can't KDF atm. The red UI is hard on my eyes and looking at it for long periods is a bit unsettling for me. To bad to, i wanted to try the KDF side but every time I do, I just want to log out... and not just because of lack of PvE stuff.

The current console textures are extremely low res (think about Half Life 1 res) due to the way the engine handles texture animations. The blue, monochromatic representation hides this problem to some extent.
IIRC those colored textures are still in the client. They have good resolution (x4 better than current) but they don't animate at all.
The funny part is that there is a mod out there, which has bad resolution (inherited) no animation (...) but still received more hits than the mouse fix and the sector space fix (RIP) combined. Making it the most popular content by far.

We actually talked about this quite a bit in my design software class, my instructor also pointed ou that different combinations of colors do different things, for example, yellow and red is supposed to make you hungry which is apparently why most restaurant logos are red and yellow. Mcdonalds, hardees, burger king, etc, etc, etc.

    chicken or the egg?
Does red and yellow make you hungry because of mc donalds and you associate those colors with their logo? or is it the other way arround?

What if the McDonalds logo was blue suddenly? You drive to the drive in and order Tea Earl Grey Hot?

It doesn't matter which came first, because that's how it works now. =P

Well, yes and no. They are in, but to bring them back, the models that use them would need to be re-textured. Lot of work, and can't be done client side.
On the other hand, some of them are used in the LCARS mod.

Umm, Shell's logo is red and yellow, too, but I never get hungry when I see it.
